I’ve been reaching out to various dealers regarding a 10 year / 100k warranty - aka - Lexus Extra Care, Platinum coverage with $0 deductible:

So according to Troy Dietrich at Greenfield Lexus in the Midwest - a 10 year old/ 100k mile warranty costs only $3300 if purchased through his dealership. 🤩… a steal IMHO for a $100k SUV!

The problem is he CANNOT facilitate the purchase of said warranty unless you have an address that is outside of California, Washington, or Oregon. WEIRD!! And the pricing is miles apart - at least in California!

The most updated pricing for various warranty options as of 4/20/26 per Troy (NON - CA, WA, OR) is listed here:

Vehicle: 2022 – 2026 Lexus GX; (Within 48 months / 50,000 miles).

- Class C10 -

Lexus Extra Care, Platinum coverage with $0 deductible:

6 yr / 75K-$1,155.00
6 yr / 100K-$1,765.00
6 yr / 125K-$2,410.00
7 yr / 75K-$1,730.00
7 yr / 100K-$2,300.00
7 yr / 125K-$3,025.00
8 yr / 75K-$1,945.00
8 yr /100K-$2,680.00
8 yr / 125K-$3,800.00
9 yr / 100K-$3,055.00
9 yr / 125K-$4,245.00
10 yr / 100K-$3,300.00
10 yr / 125K-$4,620.00

UNFORTUNATELY…. California pricing appears to be much more.

Dealers whom I’ve reached out to have given me their base cost in California of $3600 + a mark up. One dealer was willing to extend a courtesy friends and family up charge of only $500. Others will feed all kinds of stories and give inflated charges far in excess on that number.

Longo Lexus for example, (where I had a great car purchasing experience for my GX OT+) was surprisingly unaccommodating with their warranty pricing: “The 10 years 125k miles is $6,920, 100k miles is $5,600. Plus $600 discount.” ($1000 more than other more competitive iCalifornia dealers).

What I’m finding is if you are able to convince a dealer to sell u the warranty for between $250 to $500 over California cost for the 10/100 product ($3600 + mark up) - you are probably in a good place.

So far for all around customer service and willingness to work with customers, on everything from service to warranties, I’m finding that Lexus of Santa Barbara is excellent.

If someone has a GO TO DEALER FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY in California - please share in this thread.

Contact information for the dealership/ SA for the above rates? Also want to confirm that this the Lexus (national) factory warranty pricing , not just a specific dealer only product.

Are you an EM doc?

Any such information on Lexus prepaid maintenance plans?
Lexus of Westminster for prepaid maintenance and extended warranty beat every price I’ve seen on the forum. 8yrs/80K for $2415, and the prepaid maintenance 5/50K for $2260

Will share the rest of Troy’s response to me with his details. And yes, Stone Age UCLA trained EM doc and Tactical Physician. 🙂👍🏽

Troy’s remaining response:

Most of the details on the Platinum plans can be found directly at the
Lexus website at the following link, including all the various terms and
options available, just let me know if you would like a quote on a different
plan.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, I can no longer help if there is/was an existing

TFS/LFS policy on the vehicle, unless it was issued to a prior owner.

Here are the purchase instructions if / when you decide to purchase.

I would need you to mail me an original signed letter indicating the exact
current mileage on your vehicle, and a copy of your current registration.(If
you are in a state where you don't get your state registration right away, I
can also use a copy of the bill of sale, purchase contract, or some other
official document which shows the owners name and address, along with the
vehicles VIN)

Sorry, I know its a little inconvenient, but its the only way we could come
up to cover ourselves on the mileage and VIN verification. After I receive
your letter, I can call you for credit card info, if that's how you choose
to pay, or you can include a check, money order, or the credit card info
with it. Also, make sure that the registration copy is legible (I have
gotten a couple of them recently that I couldn't read or had part of the VIN
chopped off on the copy).

Mail to:

1 Main Street
Greenfield, MA 01301

Thanks,

Troy Dietrich

Try Newport Beach. I was able to get the 10yr / 100k for $3750 at the time of purchase. Not sure what they’re able or willing to do if you didn’t purchase your vehicle from them though.

Is it straightforward to purchase these extended warranties and service agreements on line and from out of state dealerships?

When can these be purchased? My car has landed at the dealership and is undergoing a PDI.

How legit are these products? Has anyone use them yet, especially the prepaid services?

Congrats on your new GX.

The good news is that you have 4 years and 50,000 miles to decide on a warranty.

That said, I’m looking to pick up mine this month to avoid potential inflation of warranty costs. (I’m in my second month of GX ownership).

As I understand the warranty products are OEM Lexus Extra Care sold through a Toyota or Lexus dealer.

I’m currently in the process with Troy Dietrich. I called the dealership directly last week and confirmed that he is legitimate. Will share my experience in the near future.

Troy will request an out of state address where you can receive mail under your name, a picture of your odometer, a copy of your registration (location of registration is not relevant), and then will coordinate payment. Comm with him is through email and he will respond within a day or two (from my experience).

If you go with a Toyota or Lexus dealer you shouldn’t have a problem.

There seems to be a significant price delta between California and other out of state dealers as it applies to warranties and VSA.

I haven’t dived into the service warranties. Remember your first two visits to Lexus are free at 6 months and 1 year. But that only includes a single oil change. Several dealerships will discount extra oil changes outside of scheduled service as a customer service extra (given the real vs perceived concerns expressed by customers regarding V35A engine issues). May be worth asking sales manager at your dealership if they would be willing to do extra “mid interval” oil changes at parts cost. It makes sense to do one as early as 1000 miles, 5000, and then have the complementary one done at 10,000 miles.

Thanks all! Excellent info and very helpful. Will almost certainly be looking for a warranty for my GX, which I bought to replace my XC90. On the XC90 the warranty saved me probably $30K

Regarding VEHICLE SERVICE AGREEMENTS

So turns out VSA’s can ONLY be sold through lexus dealers, unlike the Lexus Extra Care Warranty, which is sold by both Toyota and Lexus dealers. So this is an area where Troy at Toyota of Greenfield is unable to help us.

My Final Decision on Warranty:

Toyota of Greenfield - Troy Dietrich - $3300 even for 10 year/ 10,000 mile Lexus Extra Care warranty for a 2026 GX 550 OT+ as a California owner with a (part time) out of state address. The warranty is registered to the VIN.

Did my checking and his dealership is legitimate and the product is an OEM “Lexus Extra Care warranty.”

Vehicle service agreements need to be through “Lexus” dealers only (Not available through Toyota dealers.) I need to do the math if it will make sense in the long run before pulling the trigger. Will probably wait for a year or two.

Picking her up this evening. I'll probably go for 8yr/100k.

How is EM coming along?
Any burnout ?
Daughter just matched in EM.

My 25 years in the emergency department before transitioning to correctional and tactical medicine was very very rewarding. Congratulations to you and your daughter.

I have one son who is in his radiology residency, and a second boy who is in his third year of medical school and also Interested In emergency medicine. My daughter is a local ICU nurse.

Regarding the length of your warranty: I would highly suggest getting the longest that you possibly can.. and then adjust the miles to what you think you’re going to use. Remember once you have a warranty in place you cannot tack on another one.

My suggestion is to go for 10 years and however, many miles, you think you’re gonna go.. in my case I baby this car, so I will probably do far less than 10,000 miles a year. 100,000 will be just fine for me.

Trust me, the few hundred dollars to get two extra years as well worth it.

Send us all a picture of your new rig when you pick it up … there is nothing more exciting than new car arrival day 🥳..:

I have to say and I don’t know exactly why, but I (as I’m sure many on this forum) am more excited about this car than any of the other vehicles that I’ve purchased to date. It is just so Tux and tails meets rolling in the dirt… the versatility is incredible!!

Enjoy the rig - and if you get out this week, come say hello!

I bought VSA directly from Troy. The agreement is from Toyota Financial Services which owns both Toyota and Lexus. I called Toyota Financial Services, they told me the agreement is good for any Lexus dealer in US and Canada. I think there is no such thing that VSA can be only sold by lexus dealer because dealer is just a seller of VSA. TFS is the insurer pay for the repair to dealer when warranty is performed.
