Random Red Flashes Across Lexus Interface Touchscreen

Over the past several months, my 2024 OT Lexus Interface touch screen (the center infotainment screen) has intermittent red flashes that fly across the screen in a straight, bee-line fashion from the left side to right. It’s always random. It last a mere second at most. And it goes in a slight diagonal from mid upper left to lower right.

The flash does not take up the whole screen. It’s maybe the size of my thumb. It’s a polygon like shape (maybe a four-sided shape but without parallel sides), hard to say, because it’s so random and fast that I could never get a picture of it.

I took it to the dealer who, no surprise, could not replicate the problem and they had no previous idea of what I was talking about.

Has anyone else had this issue, read about it, know what it is, solved it? I’m afraid that if it goes unaddressed the screen will fail the day after my warranty is up.

Might be a premature sign that the screen is going out, or some weird software issue. I'm assuming no update is available? How often does it do it?

Would I would do is setup a camera pointing at a screen to try to capture it. Ideally a camera with continuous recording (like a dash cam).

I’ve only noticed this happening when using Apple CarPlay, so it might be related to CarPlay itself. Not sure if you’re also experiencing it while connected to CarPlay.

Hard to answer that question exactly. We've noticed it (my wife and I) about once every couple of weeks. But it could be happening more frequently if my eyes are on the road when it happens. Again, it's so quick that you'd have to have at least the corner of your eye on the screen to notice it.

Not been happy with my dash cam, maybe I can repurpose it to record the screen and get another dashcam for the dash.

I think it's an issue with Apple carplay, when I noticed it a couple of months ago I did a few searches and seems to impact Lexus & BMW. I did notice after a recent update to iOS that it went away.

Thanks, AshOT. That's interesting and now as I search CarPlay red flash and not Lexus, I see it's a widely reported problem - and many tie it to Waze, which I use through CarPlay.

Yeah it's a waze glitch, I think it's when there is hazard (red and white symbol) it randomly flashses on the screen. Thought it was the lexus infotainment going bad, but not a big issue.
