Just finished up my Viofo A229 Pro installation and wanted to share how I mounted the rear camera. Initially I purchased the 3D printed mount, but did not like how low the camera hung from the ceiling, That said, I came up with this solution to mount the camera while keeping the rear hatch functional.

I know it’s not aesthetically appealing, but we like it more than the ceiling mount and possibly hitting it while unloading the vehicle..

Two questions - How did you run the cable from the rear camera to the front one? In the middle pic, I see the 229 camera, what is the other one?

Here are some pictures of me running the cable…

Pull cable through using trimmer string. Had to us a bit of dish soap cause it’s a pretty tight fit….

Wiring before it occurred to me that I won’t be able to open the hatch lol…

For your second question - The camera in is OEM, not sure which angle it’s used for.

Excellent write up. I have an A229 Pro that I need to move from another vehicle into my Lux.

Do you have a Bluetooth remote button, and where did you mount it?

When I installed in my other vehicle I got some of these low profile adhesive clips off Amazon, they were a great help in a few places. Use a dark color if there's any chance the clips will be visible.

Edit to add: The utility of these clips is they allow you to secure the cables, especially the rear cable, clear and away from airbags.

Thanks! No, I don’t have the remote. For cable management I zip tied the cables to a harness behind the air bag, then tucked it along the headliner, behind the airbag and close to the weather stripping…

I mounted the camera high to minimize cable exposure.and ran the power to the fuse panel.

I received a lot of suggestions for tapping into the rear view mirror, but I really didn’t want a bunch of crap stuck to the windshield. I tapped into a fuse name “Open” for battery and one named “USB” for accessory. I also chose to use soldering tubes because I don’t trust insulated connectors….

Shrink wrap…

And mounted the ground here for easy access…

I had to replace few clips on the rear panel and trim. The Lexus OEM is roughly $1.93 each, but I found a box of 30 aftermarket clips on Amazon for $10
