Hi @Arewethereyet - First pic is exterior view of the two rail pieces joined. Interior pic shows the joining/connector plate. You can see in external view how one bolt goes through forward piece and the other bolt in the rear siderail piece. Apologies for not getting back sooner.
When did you take delivery on your rack? I bought mine this past summer and the side rails are joined by the 2 tabs design as shown in the OP pics. Not like yours. I think the tab method of joining the side rails is sketchy as hell but I've got 6,000 miles with mine on the roof with no issues. Though it should be noted I have put very little weight on it. Just an awning and a fly rod vault.Hi @Arewethereyet - First pic is exterior view of the two rail pieces joined. Interior pic shows the joining/connector plate. Removing bolts isn't a simple task since they typically have lock tite and the hex screw can strip after repeated attempts. The crossbars can be removed after removing the bolts but sometimes the adjacent crossbars need to be removed to remove tension.Thinking of ordering one as well. I like the added load capacity and the cross bar cross section design with an arch on the bottom add stiffness. When moving or removing the cross bars, will they just twist and pull out after removing the bolts or do all the bars need to be loosened?
