I am having a random issue on the rear hatch close and lock button no working. There are times when I press the button and it just beeps without closing the rear hatch. All the doors are closed when this happens. That forces me to just press the close button on the rear hatch and then after the hatch is closed lock the car with the key fob or touching the door handles. I am not sure what is preventing the close and lock button from working.

Per the manual, the default standard state is close and “walk away” and you have to step away from the vehicle for it to start closing. I haven’t tried this myself, but decided to go through the manual after reading your post

Will need to go to dealer to switch to the direct close and lock it seems

The glass isn’t fully closed

the tailgate wouldn't have opened if the glass was open.

Have you tried stepping away after pressing the "Close + Lock" button yet? I tried it on mine and it will close after the key is no longer detected in range

I have the same issue, and dealer can't figure it out. The glass door is not the problem. With every option to close (dash button, FOB, or button on hatch), nothing I do can shut the hatch. Just get a double beep.

The most consistent thing for me has been pressing the button with the fob in my hand.

I have been having the same issue. I am beginning to think that it is the back seat safety feature. When I open the back door, it thinks I have put a child or pet in the back and won't close and lock. Thought I might try my theory out tomorrow. Only thing that makes sense since it doesn't do it all the time.🤷‍♀️

I have never determined why the hatch will not always close and lock when you press the button. All I get is two beeps and I walk away to see if it will close. It seems to happen only when the hatch has been open for a while.

I am having exact same issue. Took it to the dealer unfortunately it worked while there but it started acting up again. Did you ever find out what the problem was?

Mine used to do that too… I think there must be a sensor back there so just need to stand close (right under the button) so it can detect you. Now I’m used to it and it always closes on the first try

I also have this issue. I identified that it only happens when it is raining outside. There must be a sensor or something somewhere that is getting tripped due to moisture.

I plan to bring it up to the dealer when I take it in for my 5,000 mi service.

I have noticed that the key fob needs to be close to the car for it to do the close and lock. As long as I stand very close to the hatch it works reliably. If I take a step away it will close with the close button, but when I push the close and lock button it just beeps.

Same issue here. Happens sporadically. I wasn’t too concerned until I saw this post. Going in for service next week. I’ll bring it up.

FYI, I noticed this happens when I open the backseat door to get something, as another poster above mentioned. Maybe backseat safety related?

I don't have this exact problem, but I do notice you have to stay standing very close to the vehicle for the button on the hatch to work.

Sometimes, if I push the button and I'm not standing underneath the hatch, it won't close. Similarly, if I push the button and immediately step away, it won't work. I have to push the button, make sure it makes the correct noise that indicates the door will close, then step away before it bonks me on the head.

Also, I found the card key has a significantly shorter range than the fob. I've had trouble with my wallet blocking the signal from the card if it's sitting behind my wallet in my pocket, preventing me from unlocking the door and requiring me to get very intimate with my car. I've since just carried the fob instead and it works as normal.

Oh - one quick edit - also make sure there are no other keys in or around the vehicle - including your phone, if you have it set up with digital key. There's a sensitivity setting in the app digital key options if your car consistently thinks your phone is in the car when you're standing outside.

My 2025 is doing the same thing. However it only does it when outside temperature is below 40 degrees. Once it warms up it no longer does it. I also noticed it will randomly change the opening height. I’m pretty tall so I have it open to the max. But when it malfunctions it will change that setting to a lower height. I videoed the issue and will show my dealer when I go in for service.
