Removing factory running boards (1 Viewer)

Has anyone removed the running boards?

I see a few electrical plugs on my Premium+ running boards. What are they?

They are for the lights that are on the running boards. When you get close to your car at night, they light up. I have a Luxury: on mine two are on the running boards for the back doorsteps and the other ones are under the exterior mirrors for the front doorsteps.

Would there be any issues if I just removed the running boards and disconnected the illumination?

I am not a fan of the silver painted ones.
