Seriously looking at a GX

Given the fact that you bought a Rivian in the first place, means that you are vested in electric vehicles.

As much as I absolutely love this vehicle. Economically and from an environmental perspective, it is likely not your best choice : depending on what you intend to use it for 🤔..

If you are gonna log miles and lug bodies with electricity - likely the new Highlander or TZ is your best go to.

If on the other hand you want a smooth driving luxury SUV, with the ability to go play in the sandbox - then in my humble opinion, you could not pick a more satisfying choice than the GX 550. 😌

Good points. I will miss some of the driving dynamics of EVs, but I won't miss all the planning and charging stops. I have a property 1K miles away from where I live, and I go there a couple of times a year. It's in the middle of nowhere, WI, and there aren't many chargers. Plus, one of my visits is in winter when EV range takes a serious nosedive. Economics isn't much of a concern, or I'd be looking at something that wasn't pushing 90K.

My main criteria are reliability and longevity at this point. Given how quickly EVs depreciate and how rapidly the technology is changing, I'm getting a bit fed up with their throwaway nature. What I'd love to do is have something I can personalize, keep for a long time, and turn into an off-road beast when it's time to replace it as a daily driver. The GX seems like the nicest vehicle that fits that bill, aside from the Rivian.

My wife still has her BMW EV, which we have no plans to get rid of. We can use that for more of our daily tasks while still having an ICE vehicle for road trips. Then I don't have to rent some garbage like the Grand Wagoneer we rented last year for our winter visit to WI.
