I installed the Beat Sonic last Sunday. I opted to use the Velcro on the bottom the amp so I could easily remove it and adjust any settings. The Velcro really holds well onto the carpet. As a matter of fact when I tried to pull it off I had to hold down the carpet it was so strong.
Pretty easy install if you have small hands to get the factory plug out of the factory amp under the seat. I had to make a small tool to get it unlatched. You do have to remove the two front bolts on the seat and loosen the rear bolts to tip the seat back. I used a piece of wood to hold the seat tilted back. Then it's just a matter of plugging it in.
I left the amp pots turned up max as the guy in the video did. The sound is great. A really nice upgrade except I was getting a bass like sound sporadically while driving . I turned the gains on the post to the 2 O'clock position, that's the way it came, and that seemed to stop that sound. It's just not as loud with the pots turned down a bit but still I don't go above 20 because it's really loud at 15.
The amp does get warm on an hour trip but doesn't seem to be a problem. When I picked it up Eric told me that the 3 units he had in stock would produce a thump sound when you first start the car and they are addressing that with a software upgrade on the new ones. It doesn't happen every time and is so minor that it doesn't bother me at all. Most of the time I don't hear it.
The only issue is that after using it for the week It seems this morning I had to turn it up to 25 to get the sound I had when it was at 15. I haven't changed anything so I've emailed them to see if there is something reacting with the factory radio/amp/system. I have the fake engine noise turned off so that's not the problem. Other than that it's a nice upgrade.
I'll report back when they get back to me.
