I'm 100% ready to put up some serious money to rip the ML system out of my Luxury plus for an aftermarket setup. I think the worst part about the system is Lexus has made it extremely difficult to even ban the system as a whole. From doing some research online it seems its a very complicated "agricultural "and not easy to just replace the amp with multiple better quality amps. It can cause error screens and all types of havoc with the head unit. It's like your almost stuck with it. If its that elaborate and they put all this time into it to make it so great then why the hell does it suck so bad? I have a very recent 2026 L+ that just came off the boat 2 weeks ago. I would assume I have the newer amp that was promised. I can say in mine the system does not lack bass frequencies. The problem is they sound terrible. Very loose and you can tell the whole system lacks headroom. All those speakers need more power. Its just enemic sounding at high volumes. Like when cranked the bass is not tight and you can hear/feel the amp being overworked. This setup might sound good to some of you, and that ok. Personally I had less speakers and 2 giant amps in my old Rodeo and got a more powerful demanding sound that was enjoyable. I would love to set this thing up for a competitive SQL setup. There needs to be more headroom for better dynamics and transients. I want this beautiful truck to have a clear system you feel in your chest with a clear super loud liquid mid and treble. Right now I'm getting Harsh and mush at high volumes. (Personally) I'm from the camp of obnoxious loud that sounds pleasing. Playing the right music like that dialed in perfectly is a great experience. Especially on the highway.
Is anyone out here an expert and really familiar with this rig to know exactly what it would take to turn this truck into a real deal banger? After all the mods I'm currently getting done as we speak, a fire breathing system is all that will be missing. But googling how to upgrade the ML system has got me worried and depressed its not going to be easy whatsoever! Seems too complicated. Like the head unit is only setup to work with the ML amp. And honestly WTF is with us only getting a 3 band EQ on a car at this price point? Like only senior citizens will drive this truck? Give me a break Lexus. Where's the love for audio heads? This is a Kenny G supreme boombox.
