Full disclosure: SXTH provided these recovery points to me at no cost so I could test the fitment on my GX550. I was not paid for this post or given any additional compensation. Everything below is based on my own installation experience and honest opinion.
I originally contacted SXTH to ask whether their front recovery points—currently listed for the Tacoma, 4Runner, and Land Cruiser—would also fit the GX550. They had not tested them on a GX550 and could not confirm the fitment, so Zach offered to send me a set to try.
I installed them today, and they fit my GX550 perfectly. The factory recovery loops were removed, and the SXTH recovery points bolted directly into the same mounting locations using the supplied hardware. Everything lined up correctly, and no drilling, cutting, spacers, or other modifications were required.
The installation itself was very straightforward. The SXTH recovery points are noticeably lighter in hand than the factory steel loops, but they still feel extremely solid. They are CNC-machined from 7075 aluminum and have a black anodized finish.
I especially like the design and laser-engraved lettering. The engraved recovery and torque specifications give them a distinctive, premium appearance that looks different from the other recovery points currently available. They also extend farther forward than the factory loops, making them easier to access.
According to SXTH, each recovery point is rated for 11,000 pounds in the direction of pull. They are compatible with most 3/4-inch D-rings and soft shackles under 1.75 inches in diameter. SXTH recommends using a bridle during recovery so the load is distributed between both points. Complete specifications and safety information are available on the SXTH product page.
I also want to recognize Zach and the entire SXTH team for their excellent customer service. Zach was responsive and supportive throughout the process, and I really appreciate that SXTH trusted a GX550 owner to test the fitment and provide honest feedback.
Based on my installation, these recovery points fit my GX550 without any modifications, are considerably lighter than the factory loops, and look great. This is currently a fitment and installation review only—I have not used them during an actual vehicle recovery.
I’ve included photos of the product, the comparison with the factory recovery loops, the installation, and the finished result. Hopefully, this helps other GX550 owners who have been wondering whether these will fit.
