I posted previously on my experience with WPF. It appears that the premature failure of my WPF was related to having front windshield window tint placed after the WPF installation. The tint application requires “heat shrinking” the tint on the front of the windshield before it is applied to the inside …
This process uses a heat gun … the high heat can cause damage to the WPF below it and in my case heat etched minerals into the WPF. This caused permanent damage to the protection film and left indelible deposits that despite using every thing from dilute vinegar to isopropyl alcohol - nothing worked.
WPF MINERAL DEPOSITS - caused by heat etching
Finally the original WPF installer stepped up to replace the damaged window protection film.
While awaiting my appointment to have the WPF replaced, As one last attempt I found this product on line and tried to use it to remove the mineral deposits…
BUT - I was aghast to find out instead of helping it made matters worse by imparting tiny abrasions to the WPF.
If you have WPF - 1. Don’t install window tint on the windshield after the fact and tell your tint installer you have WPF in place. 2 avoid this specific Meguairs product!!
