I’m putting my roof rack together from Westcott. I noticed that there is a gap where the visor and rail attach. Does anyone else have this issue?

I just checked mine and there is a paper-thin gap on the passenger side, about the same as yours, maybe a tiny bit less. I never noticed, you won't notice it with the rack mounted.

The gap on mine is quite wide. Can probably fit 2-3 credit cards in between. I contacted Westcott and they said the cross bar behind the visor wasn’t cut properly where it is longer than the visor. Trying to find a solution with them

Can you just move that crossbar to the middle of the rack where the gap won't be noticed? It's aluminum....you could always sand or grind it down a bit.

I have a gap exactly the thickness of a credit card

If you have a grinding wheel or a belt sander or an orbital sander you can shave that long crossbar down in no time.

Westcott installed my Roof Rack. Here's a picture of my left front joint. The right is identical

My roof rack came with a 4th bracket with 3m tape attached. I had to cut out a section of weather strip so the bracket could sit on the metal channel below as intended. Anyway, after install the roof rack sits about 1mm off the paint. Normal? Makes me nervous it's almost touching my paint job! Almost want to loosen the brackets and put a plastic spacer to prevent it.

Now that's low profile!

With the way it's designed, there may be very little deflection or sagging even with a bunch of weight up there. But when the vehicle's moving things move and twist. I'm with you, I'd maybe find a way to space it up a little. Or at least stick some 3M PPF tape under it for now and see if the tape is getting banged up. But it seems like there isn't even much room for that?

Thanks, I bought some composite furniture shims, going to loosen all the side brackets, shim it up into place then retighten. Tape idea I'll try if that fails. In hindsight I'd have paid someone to install it for me! I suck at this kind of shit and it took me forever lol.

One reason the Westcott is so quiet is because it's such a looooooow profile fit. I've had a lot of weight up on mine, well over 100 lbs with a large Roam case, 2 pelican 1550s, and traction boards and a giant 180-degree awning. The rack is solid and tight and isn't flexing any that I can discern.
