What did you do in your GX today?

Installed some Canvas back protection in the cargo area. Fits really well and still have access to all of the anchor points if needed.

Added 1.25” wheel spacers. Love the way it looks now paired with the Peak leveling kit. Was originally planning to do aftermarket wheels but I’ve decided keep this as an OEM+ build.

Drove 1800 miles from last Tuesday to Saturday. Snowy roads for the first 120 miles the GX never fazed. I was xtra careful for the first time on snow and ice at 45 to 50 MPH. Over mountain pass one guy in a sedan went off the first turn on the downhill grade slid into a snow bank from the plow. all the roads were OK after that but did encounter 70 MPH cross winds on the plains with Semi trucks on their side. Again very little influence on the rig. Long hours with comfort and quiet and enjoyable radio. Fuel fill ups were variable due to the wind and mountain grades. A safe trip and very capable vehicle. Also saw an LX700 Nori Green I like ours better.

So..over the last several weeks…
  • ordered the Slee SliderStep for my OT to replace the OE rock rails. To be installed as soon as I can return to Colorado.
  • purchased a few cockpit storage accessories.
  • put in one of the Belkin mag charging pucks, similar to what others have done.
  • installed the FitCamX HD front and rear cam dash cams.
  • installed the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 275/70 R18 SL tires (all 5). Sold the OE 18” Toyota tires. I like the new tires better, seem more robust but a better ride (? 🤷). Definitely looks and fits better.
  • have a total of 7800 miles, the vast majority being highway mileage. 2 oil changes so far.
  • I had the Richmond VA dealer record into the Lexus maintenance system both the squealing brake issue, and the fluttering hood issue; they annotated the Lexus TSB for each of those.
  • Since my GX VIN is AFTER (later than) the stated VIN range for the fluttering hood fix, the dealer actually removed the hood insulation piece on both my 2024 OT (10/2024) and a brand new 2025 OT and compared them directly. They are apparently the same - both incorporating a production line ‘fix’ with some (extra?) mastic stiffener installed. My hood mastic fix is still in place (has not loosened) but the hood still flutters beginning like 35-45 depending and gets worse at highway speeds. Severity on the highway dependent on speed, winds, trucks etc. Technician and I went for test ride in my GX, he confirmed it’s still there, and entered into the Lexus mx system.
  • had the dealer turn off the ‘engine sound enhancement in personalized settings’. I confirmed the different, extra sound is gone. It sounds the same now in all drive (engine power) settings. I like it better this way.
  • Sheehy Lexus of Richmond has been great to deal with. 😊
EDIT: Toyo tires (not Toyota). And the new tires are very quiet..essentially no noise diff from the OE Toyo. In other words, with any conversation or music going on you will not hear them.
