AC Pressure Noise GX550 OT+ (1 Viewer)

OT+ here. I took mine back to the dealership on Tuesday. In addition to the A/C noise I also had some loud squeaking brakes that I wanted to get looked at.

I got a call this afternoon saying that Lexus is aware of the noise and working on a solution to the problem. As for the breaks they are replacing the entire brake pads, calipers, etc. Ordering the parts and getting installed so happy about that.

Bad news here. I was hoping I don't have to hear these sounds when the weather cools down. It works for a while. But it starts again when it gets cold in my area. So now I know it happened for both below 70° and above 85° lol. Seems I need to get used to it this whole winter. Hope Lexus can get it fixed ASAP.

I think the HVAC system is just pretty noisy generally, just “turn up the radio” as the horrible hair metal band, Autograph, said.

One really annoying thing is that the A/C button always defaults to “off” in my OT+. Is this the norm? First car I’ve ever owned where that is the case (and should not be). Is this reprogrammable?

I have this same issue. Following this thread. Turning off the passenger ventilated seat fixes it. I plan on taking my vehicle back to the dealer in a month for its 5k service where I'll bring this to their attention.

I tested this yesterday by manually turning off both seat ventilators (on auto I assume they run when hot out) and still hearing the A/C pressure hissing noise. Mine only goes away when I turn off the A/C completely.

Hi,

Seemes like I have this now on my 2025 OT.

Was anyone able to get this successfully resolved? I wonder if it's a known issue with the land cruiser as well?

I am definitely having this same issue. Any advice on how to escalate to Lexus?

I only hear the hissing sound when the AC is on and I am driving. I do not hear it when the vehicle is in park, for example, or when the AC is off. It is really annoying and I can hear it over music. I would consider switching to a different model, if this is not an issue for other models. I brought this to the attention of our dealer but they were not helpful. I think pointing them to this thread will be useful but I would like to make an official complaint to Lexus and make sure they are trying to address this issue.

I brought it up again at my 10K service and they said it was my passenger seat fan motor and ordered a replacement. While I realized they were right about my seat cooling making noise, it's not the fix for the issue we are talking about here (I also stated that in a post above--turning off seat AC manually doesn't prevent the noise). I am going to bring it back in again while it's still hot out but waiting for my brake replacements to come in--timing TBD.

I thought I had this issue until I realized my passenger seat heating/cooling was on Auto for some reason. Could be that?

The pressure noise I am having is not from the seats, nor is it what I think this thread is referring to. See my post above--only resolved when main A/C is completely off. I do think it's been mis-diagnosed by a few folks, including the first time I asked my dealer about it.

Same here - that annoying Hissing sound every 20 seconds. I was told
By another owner that it’s the evaporator every time the compressor cycles. The gasses are expanding.

I got feedback from the dealer today. They heard it too. They said it's an expansion valve cycling during AC operation. They said they are treating it like normal operation and there will be no fix. Honestly, I may have to sell this vehicle because it annoys me that much. I love everything else about the GX 550 but this sound is like nails on a chalkboard. Even the mechanic said something like "once you hear it, you can't unhear it".

By the way, they said they drove around other GX 550s and also heard it. I have an OT. It wasn't clear to me whether this is an issue in other versions or whether they only tried in other OTs. I asked my mechanic (I bought through their business) but the Lexus dealer is the one that performed the evaluation and the mechanic didn't know that detail. So, might take me a while to get that information.
