AC Pressure Noise GX550 OT+

When I brought this up with the dealership last year, they were aware and stated that Lexus is aware as well. They tried to add some insulation but it didn't help. They said that for some reason the GX550 had the fill lines and other AC parts on the driver's side while it is usually on the passanger's side for other models. Not sure how accurate this is but this is what they mentioned.

My understanding is that there is no fix. There is a fan they added to cool the engine and that is what makes the noise. Apparently, all GX and LX engines now have this fan, but I do not hear it in the other GX 550 2024 I have ridden in.

The noise like this, but a lot more smaller. Repeat every 20 30 seconds ( on driver side ) when driving only. No noise when stop or park

25 OT. i 100% have had this noise from day one. it is not too annoying but definitely noticeable. i just assumed it it was the vents automatically turning on and off in AUTO mode.

Just had my service for a 2026 OT, they checked the ACs and said everything is working to spec.

I'm glad to hear your 2026 is clear of that sound! We're mostly trying to poll the group to see how widespread this AC hissing issue is among the same models. The main problem we are running into is that even when the noise is clearly present, the dealers dismiss it as 'working to spec.' However, as drivers, we find the hissing to be unpleasant and bothersome

Sorry maybe it wasn’t clear. My model presents the same issue described here (at least I think so) but when I asked them to check they dismissed it.

I found a YouTube video showing a fix for the exact same AC hissing noise on a Lexus. Hopefully, it applies to our car too.
