Agreed with your thoughts. The less gloss the better. And only having the “L” with the gloss for me was preferable. That said it still looks better than stock imo.I think I may reorder another one and go with the matte with gloss logo. Not sure why but the gloss on matte bugs me. Seems a little out of place.
Maybe I am just looking for excuses to spend more money on the truck.
I don't think so, the emblem is coated with resin. Is there any chance this messes up the original emblem if you ever need to remove? Thinking the adhesive or something.

It's common to hide the front radar antenna behind the logo. Pretty sure the GX does this.I also heard that logo may somehow be a sensor? I don’t know how that could be true.
Same here. I haven't seen any difference with any security, etc. features since I have installed it. Everything works the same. The sensor is definitely behind the emblem and before purchasing I read countless Tacoma forums with folks putting similar decals over theirs without any issues for years. (Taco Sticker Forum Example)
Installed ours about a month ago and zero issues with matte/gloss sticker from Upturn. Getting ready to let the thing drive us from HOU to the Asheville NC tomorrow so I'll report back if it rams into the perpetual traffic in Baton Rouge on I-10.
but at least you are the one spending the least on gas!
Absolutely zero issues with radar from Texas to NC and back. Go forth and black out those emblems! The sensor is definitely behind the emblem and before purchasing I read countless Tacoma forums with folks putting similar decals over theirs without any issues for years. (Taco Sticker Forum Example)
