Fed up with Lexus marketing (1 Viewer)

I joined this place because I thought I wanted to buy a new GX. I still like them. But no way would I pay over msrp. I also don't "need" one. I drive a G550 and wife drives a GLE. We like the Lexus GX550, but the limited availability, over msrp pricing, and reliability issues kept us from buying. I'm still keeping an eye/ ear on these, but Lexus is just missing the mark, IMO.

Same. We were looking at a 24-25 GX550, but the dealers either had too little inventory or wanted too many add-ons. The inability to custom order a GX550 basically closed that opportunity.

We ended up ordering a 2026 BMW X5 xDrive40i in May of 2025 for 11% off MSRP (not including the $4k MIL rebate and $1k BMW CCA rebate). With all the dealer discount and all the incentives we qualified for, we bought it for about $7-8k under MSRP of $75,900 including TTL + doc fees. The X5 arrived in about 2 months after placing our order.

We took delivery of a 2025 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 Coyote and 6.5 foot bed through Granger Ford about a month after our X5. It's disappointing that you can custom order a Ford, but you can't for a Lexus/Toyota. That's played a part in why we went with an F150 over a Tundra. The 1794 with a 6.5 foot bed was almost impossible to find and impossible to order. Turns out that ended up being a good choice since the V35A-FTS continues to be problematic.

You are just trying to summon @RickBullotta here for more GX550 rage hate aren't ya?

Ha! Not hate at all - disappointment. I've owned many "Lexi" over the years - LS's, IS's, ES's, RX's and GX's. All were basically trouble free, a couple well into high miles. My GX had many issues, quite a few of which had no known resolution. I did not have the patience to wait months for fixes. I also should have done a longer test drive to get a better sense of the handling/performance, which was not really my style. In any case, "hate" is definitely the wrong term. I've moved on, I'm happy, and hopefully the new owner of my GX is delighted with it.

Lexus marketing ploy is pissing off and driving away customers. I have been on a waiting list for over a year for a GX550 Overtrial in earth color. I have expanded my search to multiple dealerships in other states with no results. A couple of Overtrail +'s have come in but I don't feel like paying 10k extra for massaging seats and 21 speakers. Dealerships are charging a minimum of MSRP and you can't even order the options you want. You have to except it however Lexus sends it. Like with a 600 dollar extra traffic jam assist on an offroad vehicle. (not much traffic offroad). Then dealerships are putting their own add on's charging 5-10K over MSRP for crap you didn't ask for.
The vehicle is in High demand. It’s that simple.

Have you talked to Nick Ensey at Pembroke Pines Lexus?

I have the exact overtrail you want. But the brakes make an awful noise in reverse. I have been on a waiting list for 6 months. This was my first and last Lexus I buy. Lexus is not a luxury brand. I have had other luxury cars and when there was a problem it was fixed. Don’t buy a Lexus find another Luxury brand

Interesting on the breaks - I brought it in for normal service and mentioned it. They replaced the pads and rotors on all 4 wheels proactively. All is silent now.

I went in for my free 10,000 mile service today. I mentioned my brakes had started squealing in reverse. They had them in stock and replaced the pads and rotors while I waited.

Such a horrible brand.

I have the squeaky front brakes and videos of them screeching but my Lexus dealer said they couldn't order the replacement parts without inspecting the brakes first-hand themselves. I live two almost two hours from the dealer and tried to convince them otherwise. They wouldn't budge. So I went in for the camera recall and the jello front hood repairs a couple weeks ago. They confirmed I had the squeaky brakes, but said they can't fix my Lexus because the parts are backordered. On a positive note, they did reprogram the transmission as I also had the gear shift clunk which seems to have been fixed, but they scratched my hood during the jello hood repair and now it needs to be repainted. I'd give Lexus mixed reviews at this point.

Same lol. If it wasn't for this forum it would've never occurred to me complain about it.
Neither would I but it has gotten worse over time. I am at 14,000 miles. This is a known problem. The Toyota Tundra had problems first. According to my dealer they have priority first. Hope you don’t have same issue .There is a TSB memo currently TS-B 0021-24 or L-SB 0036-24

I've had a very good experience with Lexus. I ended up with the exact configuration with the only addition of a trailer hitch ball mount which I already have. My dealer held to the MSRP they quoted me in September 2024 for my 2025 GX OT+ delivered in July 2025. There were 2 price increases during this wait period but they held to the quoted 2024 MSRP. The only thing I didn't like was the wait time. It took 4 months longer than my previous SUV from Mercedes but I didn't need another vehicle immediately.
Selfishly, I like the limited production of the GX which is keeping our GX's value up. Since I started shopping for a new vehicle in 2004 I have only seen 2 GX's on the road and neither were Earth OT+.
What dealership did you purchase it from? I am looking for a base OT in Earth but there are not many dealers around that have base OTs come through their allocations and especially in Earth.
