Knocking Sound from Engine Bay at idle after warm-up, 2025 GX 550 Overtrail (1 Viewer)

Hi All, we just bought a 2025 GX 550 Overtrail a few weeks ago and have noticed a knocking sound at idle coming from the engine bay after the engine has reached normal operating temp (I.e. after 10 min of driving or so). The sound is very noticeable from the cabin, especially when stopped at a stop light. The vehicle only has 800 miles. Has anyone experienced this sound? Please listen to the attached file.
Try this: See if the dealership has a GX550 on the lot. If so, have them open the hood and start it up. If the engine in that GX is not making the same or similar noise yours is, then their argument that the noise in yours is normal is complete BS.

I have also hear this on my '25, has less than 500 miles on it. I can't hear it from inside the cabin, heard it when I jumped out to hit up the ATM the other day.

I do think that noise is unusual, but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's a failing main bearing, especially if you have no other symptoms. In my experience, vacuum pumps can make exactly this noise - and they do sometimes make a little extra noise while breaking in or under heavy load.

I haven't studied the vacuum diagram on this engine, but does this noise change if you remove the engine oil fill cap while the vehicle is running? If so, it's likely the vacuum pump and this noise is not necessarily indicative of a problem or even indicative of a pump which will fail prematurely.

Copy that and thanks for that info. I will see if that is the case at some point. I haven't noticed it again but I don't drive it all that much as it is basically the wife's car.
