GX 550 V35A Engine Recall Possibly Expanded? (1 Viewer)

I don’t have a dog in this fight as I do not own a GX. However, I have always been a big Toyota Fanboy and believer in Toyota/Lexus vehicles as I have purchased 2 Lexus RX350’s (2012 & 1017) and 2 Tundra Pickups (2014 & 2021). I bought those vehicles because of Toyota/Lexus’ stellar reputation for quality, service, and reliability. I am saddened by the reputation hit Toyota and Lexus have taken from these V35A engine issues. I desperately hope Toyota has solved the problem and fixed it once and for all.

Never thought I’d look forward to seeing a new thread about someone who put a deposit down on a GX and walked away and why they are breaking up with a car they never bought versus potential engine issues that have not happened en masse

I’m interested in an OT/OT+ and have been doing quite a bit of research. Here’s how I’m looking at it:

  1. The issue appears to extend beyond the original recall population. The recall has affected 2024 GXs, but there have also been reports involving replacement engines and 2025 and I believe 2026 models. Toyota attributes the issue to machining debris, but given the continued reports, it’s reasonable to question whether there’s a deeper design issue at play:

Where have you seen, read or heard the problem involves 2025 and 2026 MY, it is there anything tangible and specific?
