I live in OKC. In April I told my wife I hated my Genesis GV80 and was going to get a new car. The next morning I drove to our local Lexus dealer and told the salesman that I would like to look at a new GX550. He laughed and told me there wasn't a new GX on a dealer's lot in north America. That was my first introduction to the popularity and demand for GXs. He explained that I would have to order one and it would take 14-16 months to get it. I told him that I guess I'll go over to the Toyota dealer and look at a Land Cruiser. When I got there, I learned that there is a 10-12 month wait to get those cars. I did drive a 2025 and it was a dog. I think my 1984 Subaru I had in college had more giddy up and go than the LC.

I went home and decided to look for a lightly used GX online. After about 45 minutes of searching, I found a 2025 Black Overtrail+ with only 300 miles on it. Ironically, it was at the Toyota dealership that I had just been to. I texted my salesman that had taken me for a test drive in the LC, and he said they still had the truck. I was back there in 15 minutes and took the GX for a test drive. I was hooked!

I'm sure I probably overpaid a bit for the truck, but it was exactly what I would have ordered, and I didn't have to wait 16 months. The roof rack did make noise at high speeds, but I ordered a Thule fairing for the rack and it has done a great job of reducing the noise. I absolutely love this car more than any car I've had in the past 30 years.

The only thing that bothers me about this car is that from time to time it sets the parking brake and will not let me move until I buckle the seatbelt. I alway wear my seatbelt, but sometimes if I'm in a big hurry, I will shift into reverse to pull out of a parking spot, and then buckle as I'm pulling away. It seems like this only happens when I'm in a hurry, which is frustrating. The red "PARK" light is displayed in the lower right hand corner of the instrument cluster, and it goes off about 5 seconds after I fasten the seatbelt. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks.
