Hello everyone, good afternoon. I have a GX 550 Overtrail Plus, and I'd like to give it a little tweak to improve its appearance. I'd like to change the tires to 285/70R18. I also want to raise the suspension a bit on both sides, as I like the factory setup with a slight forward tilt. I've been researching and found PEAK, which offers a 1-inch lift in the front and 1-inch in the rear. I also found Spacer, made in Germany, which offers a 28mm lift in the front and 28mm in the rear. Finally, I found WestCott, but this last one raises the front more than the rear.

Which would you recommend? I don't want to lose comfort on or off-road. I want everything to work as it did on the factory, but I want my 285/70R18 tires to fit without rubbing against anything, both on and off-road, and for the shocks and the entire suspension system to function properly.

Could you help me choose? Or, if someone on the forum has already done so, how does it feel? Did you have to change any other parts? Thanks.

Do you know if they've made a larger fuel tank for the GX 550 yet? Where could I get it, and what brand is it? Also, I saw some pictures where the spare tire is mounted in the center of the pannier, and it looks great.

There won't be much ride difference between top hat spacer companies. It will get a little stiffer, but no one but you will know if that is an issue. It is literally a block of metal that pushes the body higher above the top spring perch. What is different is the install requirements. Some manufacturers require you to cut the existing perch screws to fit the spacer. This is more work/$ if you want to revert back to stock.

If you like the stock rake, get equal lifts front and rear. If you want to level it out, get a higher lift up front compared to the rear.

But if you are worried about rubbing, you should be more concerned about rim offset and tire size than a lift. A lift (especially 1") won't prevent rubbing if your offset is too low. General rule of thumb is not to go below +30 offset when going to 33"-35" tires

There are several US and Chinese tanks are already out or in progress for the GX. Most have 2 options depending on if you are willing to move your spare elsewhere on the vehicle.
