Has anyone found a collapsable/folding ladder to attach to their Overtrial Roof Rack? I am not a fan of the fixed ladders and was looking for something to help load the top rack when heading out into the back country. Not really crazy about the look of the Prinsu, Westcott and other roof racks given the 'dealer added option' rack that is so wonderfully silent when driving.

Some of the rooftop tent ladders may be worth investigating. The key is how to clear the roof line above the doors - the edges of the roof racks are actually quite a bit inboard compared to the actual edge of the roof.

Not a bad idea. When I was looking at different RTTs and ladders for a 4Runner, I saw a ladder (not one of the common brands like Tepui, Roofnest etc) that had a horizontal piece at the top that extended toward the tent (or the center of the roof). I'll see if I can dig it up.

To the OP, I agree with your hesitation re: fixed ladders. I have one (part of the Gobi rack setup) and I'm sure that after 7 years +/- it has contributed to my liftgate's orchestra of squeaks and rattles.

Think my solution is a telescoping ladder, then attach a piece of thick polyethylene foam that I'll cut a groove into and put against the side edge of the OverTrail rack. As long as it sticks out 3-4" from the rack edge I will clear the side of the car. Thinking a velcro strap that I could affix it to the rack when in use for stability. Then fold and stow ladder in the back on trips when I need to get on the roof; the ladders are only 30"x16" when folded so very small.

Thanks for bringing the clearance issue up - added it to my work around
