Has anyone else noticed that when you park, and let's say you are on the phone. If you put the car in park and go to just turn off the engine - the entire car turns off and you lose the call or if you had the stereo on - that goes off as well.

Anyone find a work around?

I think I checked this on my car, but try it yourself and let me know if it works for you. This is a fun hack I learned from the Mazda community which seems to work with our cars too.

If you hold the shift interlock button (that you press when you want to shift out of park) when turning off the car, I believe our cars will go into accessory mode, rather than full off. You obviously have to have accessory mode enabled in the infotainment for this to work.

Edit: Obvious safety warning about doing this, because you could accidentally move the shifter out of park by doing this.

Yes, the engine shuts off and everything stays on until i open the door. Do you ave accessory mode enabled in your infotainment settings as mentioned above?
This is a good point - if you do my shift interlock button hack, it will go into accessory mode, which does not automatically shut off, draining your battery. You have to manually shut off the car with the start / stop button after doing this.

If you can get "retained power" mode working for your car, as munkeeboi described, then it's a much better option, because it will automatically turn off your car when you open the door.

For me, the stereo/call/center screen stays on until the door opens.
Oh, wait - this is fascinating. Does this also work if you're not on a call, but just listening to music?

My car shuts off the music & infotainment immediately when I turn off the engine.
