🛠️ What did you do in your GX today?

🛠️
First tow and camping trip. GX towing was great although no tough climbs on the drive down.

Applied the Lexus emblem overlay from Upturn Prints. Installation was pretty easy, although I didn't do it perfectly (imperfections are likely only noticeable by me, but oh well).

Removed the OEM cross bars today. Not difficult to do - maybe 10-15 minutes. I like the clean, sleeker look more. Waiting to find out how this will affect noise and mpg.

Like the outboard mount. Really accessible. Will be trying to adapt my 10 yr old Rod Vault to the Prinsu in outboard location too. Not sure how that's going to work.
Look at the Sherpa Low Pro mounts. They will probably work with the Prinsu (I think it's basic T-track cross bars like the Sherpa). The trick will be how to attach the rod vault to the mounts. But if you're talking about a Denver Outfitters (now THULE) rod vault you could come up with some basic hardware for the plastic "clamps" that hold the rod tubes together that would go through the Sherpa brackets pretty easily.

If you look at the Sherpa site and think the regular rod vault brackets (not the Low Pro) would work, let me know and I'll send you a new set, gratis. Sherpa's customer service is awsome. They sent the wrong ones, delivered the right ones in 2 days, and told me to keep the originals and pass them along to someone who can use them. (I guess their margins on powder coated bent metal are not bad. More power to 'em. Seems like a great company!)

Yes, its the original old school rod vault from Denver Outfitters. Bought it from the guys up at Frying Pan Anglers years ago. Still in great shape after thousands of miles on the roof of my 4Runner. The Prinsu for my Overtrail is due to ship in about 2 weeks and once mounted I'll get to work on the rod vault mount. Removing the round bar mounting feet off the tube clamps will open up the mounting possibilities. I'll check out the Sherpa mounts you talked about. Appreciate the free bracket offer, may be taking you up on that.

Keeping the fly rod theme going, installed the Trxstle CRC carrier on the Sherpa, popped the dog in the rig, and hit some local water…

Good to hear. What was the total weight of the trailer? How much of that was on the tongue? My first flat land tow is next week.
Our travel trailer is only 5k lbs fully loaded, so not a big lift. I haven’t tested tongue weight to be honest. I do have an Anderson Weight Distribution and sway control hitch, which I love. No problems towing and at times felt like nothing was back there.

I pulled out the 2nd row seats. I normally don't use them more than 1-2 times a year as I usually need to carry non-human cargo. If I need arises to use them then just 4 bolts per side holds them down.

View attachment 10151So helpful! I have a 25 OT and am also likely make minimal use of the back seat. Hope you can advise on a few questions: 1) what sensors you needed to detach? 2) Did you need to disconnect the battery first? 3) Any ongoing dash alerts as a result of removal? 4) I've read that with some Toyotas a kind of faux sensor need to be attached to make the computer think it hasn't been removed. Was this the case? Thanks for your time!
