the NYTOP mid skid is a huge upgrade over the thin flat OEM skid. Easy install if you are able to crawl under your rig, and easier with ramps.View attachment 15528

Thinking about going with that same setup. Did you pair it with front protection too, or just the mid skid for now?

Install is very easy, it’s 6 bolts. I didn’t have ramps, and it was a little tight to do it flat on the ground so I went to an off-road shop that had a lift and only charged a minor labor charge to do it. If I had a way to lift it a bit on my own it’s definitely a DIY job.

It’s double the thickness of the original skid and provides protection to the cats. Originally my biggest issue was the shipping charge but I found a vendor that sells it that had a lower shipping charge.

The other thing I liked is that it can be used with the oem front skid. I had considered the Victory one but they said the oem front skid would require modification to work.

looks awesome!. Do they cut through rain/fog better than the OEM white?

Since they’re just cornering lights they only activate when turning (at low speeds) or reversing, but they are MUCH brighter than OEM

It’s heavier for sure, but not really that heavy honestly with it being aluminum. The UPS data shows the package was 27lbs delivered.

Took my 9-year old camping, for two days, full self-contained.

Yesterday I took it in for a pseudo-5k service. Rather than driving ~8hrs round trip to the nearest Lexus dealer, I called Lexus corporate and the dealer to see if there was any issue with me having this "service" done at my local Toyota dealer. They both told me no problem, just keep the paperwork.

The interesting thing is that while the prescribed 5K service is basically just an inspection and tire rotation, I asked them to do an oil and filter service, lube the driveline etc. They did everything, walked me through all of the inspection points, and charged me $0, including for the oil change. I was a little surprised by that.
