🛠️ What did you do in your GX today?

🛠️
After a Dobinsons 2" suspension upgrade I need to put 500 miles on the odometer over the next three days before bringing the rig back to Stellar Built on Monday for re-torque, and the rest of the installation (Dissent bumpers, etc). My first stab in the dark at some easy 4x4 trails near Sacramento brought me to this surreal scene: a little nippy at around 2600 feet, but my Ecoflow Wave 3 heater made getting up easier (this was the first test, and it passed)

Spent this week visiting our oldest in Tahoe. Our visits always include some trip to the many trails in the area. This time we hit Jumbo Grade on the Nevada side with him (Taco) and two of his buddies (F150, xTerra) and visited an abandoned mine near Virginia City. Jumbo Grade is very scenic, GX did great on some pretty challenging offshoots.

His buddy in the xTerra shoots with a film camera and took the cool shots.

One of the challenges was a fairly deep wash out. Given it had been raining the side slope was unforgiving when I went off my line (twice, oops). All worked out fine, AT4s had good bite to crawl out, Dissent sliders did their job too and kept the side protected as I dragged myself out.

Lots of mud jammed into the GX & sliders. I have found the GX holds mud very well on past trips. $10 at the self service car wash was a start. I’ll put it on ramps today and finish getting mud out with garden hose and then clean up the truck.

My brief and use case for my GX is comfort for 500+ mile days, cargo/seats for up to 4 adults traveling and then be able to get to my favorite fishing holes/views/trails in same truck. GX just nails it. We came back south via 395 yesterday. Original plan was to spend the night in Bishop, decided to go straight through (530+ miles) as I’m on work travel all of next week. My GX now has 22K miles on it and about 17K of those miles are road trips.

great pics awesome stuff to see

This is my favorite go-to spot for a quick camping trip. It's only about 35 miles from my house. The best part is that I found 1 of the 2 Maxtrax traction boards that I lost at this spot back in early December. The former mud pit that I got stuck in back in December has mostly dried out and there was the corner of one of my traction boards poking up out of the dirt. It's spent 4 months buried there and it's still in perfect condition. I dug around for the other one but no luck, must be down deep. Here's a picture of my buddy pulling it out of the dirt.

If only the Maxtrax boards came with a 6-foot orange leash that you're supposed to loop through one end of the boards so you don't lose them. That would be awesome.

Home from a little road trip up to Santa Barbara and Pismo.
