We finally took our Overtrail on a camping trip towing our Reign 13RK. The towing experience was so much better than with our Tacoma. It effortlessly went up and down the mountain passes and I never had to worry about having enough power. The only negative I experienced is not having marker lights on my trailer. I know the trailer's marker light work because I recently had it hooked up to the Tacoma. The brake lights and turn signals work (on the Overtrail and trailer), but no trailer marker lights. Knowing the Tacoma works, I pretty certain it has something to do with the Overtrail's trailer connector. I searched the forums and haven't seen anyone describe a similar issue. And yes the location of the connector sucks! I didn't find a TSB or anything concerning this issue. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any thoughts? Yes, I checked the fuses. Thanks in advance!

Haven’t seen any issues with my 7-pin connector.

Pretty obvious questions, but:
  • with your Tacoma..did it require your headlights to be on (not auto, not DRL) to light up the markers? If not sure, try with your GX lights On and then Off.
  • have you checked in Utilities that your TBC is actually turned on? If on..maybe try changing the trailer weight selection to 5000 lbs or more (to help troubleshoot).
  • have you checked that all 7 pins are really clean, not bent, etc? Possibly try a tiny bit of electrical grease..then clean it all off.
  • because of the GX’s goofy, inaccessible connector location - are you using a short extender cable?

I’m pretty sure that my Grand Design XLS side and corner marker lights (a total of 8) only come on with the headlights full on. It was/is this way with our 2017 ‘Benz GLE43, and our ‘22 Sequoia.
In my case I was forced to buy a short 7-pin cable extender (about 12”) to hook up to the GX. If that extender ever gives me issues I’ll toss it and get a new one.

Good luck. 😊
