504.8 mile tank

I just filled up and I got in nearly 1 more gallon after the first click, about a half gallon then click, then almost another half gallon. Sounded like it would spray out fuel if I tried it again. I reset my MPG indicator and my display then read 249 miles until empty!

Oh, so almost 2 additional gallons? Thats good. My countdown said 360 after full up. I’m going to get 500 out of the tank. The miles to empty gauge I believe gets more intelligent as you drive. I 100% can confirm I’m getting more physical “miles” and the miles to empty gauge is not reducing at the same 1:1 rate as I drive.

I don’t know if the GX has this issue, but some cars can spill fuel into the charcoal canister if overfilled. Then you get a check engine light until it dries out. So be careful filling to the brim.

I appreciate that. I’ve heard people talk about exploding tanks, charcoal canisters, overflow pipes. I’ve never experienced any of it but doesn’t meant it can’t or won’t happen.

Clicked at 14.4 gal on my fill up today and I slowly topped off all the way to 16.4 before I decided to go.

Computer still says 296 miles...but maybe it assumes mileage from your previous range and a predetermined full tank amount (ie ignores any topping off)

It will be interesting to see how many miles you get with that extra 2 in the tank. Will you go past 0 MPG left in the tank and how far past?
