504.8 mile tank (1 Viewer)

I just filled up and I got in nearly 1 more gallon after the first click, about a half gallon then click, then almost another half gallon. Sounded like it would spray out fuel if I tried it again. I reset my MPG indicator and my display then read 249 miles until empty!

Oh, so almost 2 additional gallons? Thats good. My countdown said 360 after full up. I’m going to get 500 out of the tank. The miles to empty gauge I believe gets more intelligent as you drive. I 100% can confirm I’m getting more physical “miles” and the miles to empty gauge is not reducing at the same 1:1 rate as I drive.

I don’t know if the GX has this issue, but some cars can spill fuel into the charcoal canister if overfilled. Then you get a check engine light until it dries out. So be careful filling to the brim.

I appreciate that. I’ve heard people talk about exploding tanks, charcoal canisters, overflow pipes. I’ve never experienced any of it but doesn’t meant it can’t or won’t happen.

Clicked at 14.4 gal on my fill up today and I slowly topped off all the way to 16.4 before I decided to go.

Computer still says 296 miles...but maybe it assumes mileage from your previous range and a predetermined full tank amount (ie ignores any topping off)

It will be interesting to see how many miles you get with that extra 2 in the tank. Will you go past 0 MPG left in the tank and how far past?

So....update now that I have 2500 on the clock. I am averaging 420-460 miles per tank. Today I have 387 on the TRIP A clocker with 70 left on the Miles Left Meter.

I've tried at Costco to 'squeeze' in just over 1/2 - 1 gallon. I've tried it once slowly and I end up spraying gasoline out of the tank in a big way. Not a fun scene....

interesting. I can always get at least 2 more gallons after the first automatic click. I do have to manually barely squeeze the gas handle to go as slow as possible. If i fully squeeze the nozzle, it will click off within .5 gallon.

Seriously - At best I can only get another 3\4 gal in the tank after the 1st click. 348 miles on a full tank is the best I’ve seen for my GX. Has Lexus not addressed tank volumes somewhere!?!?

So 480 miles to 0. Then I believe there is another 2 gallons to dry at 22.8 which puts me at a possible 525 from overfill to dry.

I drove 30 miles on the highway this morning and my trip average was 17.8 mpg, which for me really means closer to 19 mpg with the larger tires. I've never really paid attention to the single trip information displayed on the dash when you shut down the truck.

Hey brother. That's my total average over 2500 miles.... 22.9 and it keeps going up.
