Well it's $3 plus a few cents of plastic if you have a 3d printer 
But you're right. It's a single-purpose tool to avoid me having to buy another length of arbitrary diameter hose that will also inevitably be single-purpose. I'm hoping it'll help avoid me fussing over getting an oily hose connected & disconnected, because I've done enough swearing at hoses when flushing brakes, ATF and power steering fluid. I can feel the early onset arthritis coming.

During the first few oil changes the hose kept slipping off the funnel tip right as I unscrewed the filter.
Mildly annoying when the entire built-in funnel ("oil filter receiver") is designed to catch the oil drippings, but the very opposite occurs at the precise moment the filter is pulled away and my two hands are otherwise busy with the filter.
However I can't complain much because the built-in funnel is a very nice feature.
A $1 spring clamp from Home Depot solved the problem, it's strong enough to hold the hose to the funnel but not so much force as to crush the funnel tip.

I have a question regarding service records. If I change the oil myself and there are no records in the Lexus system or on Carfax, will that cause any issues with the warranty later?
Could the warranty be denied on the basis that there is no proof of timely oil changes, especially if they do not accept my word as evidence?

- Replace engine oil and oil filter (0W-20) Can do it myself
- Rotate tires and adjust tire pressures as required Can do it at shop next to my house for 20$ , especially saw some posts, that they don't even do it.
- Reset maintenance reminder light Can do it myself
- Road test vehicle LOL
- Check installation of driver's floor mat* WTF if this, LOL
- Visually inspect brake pads, calipers and rotors Can do it myself

In the Lexus app, you can enter your maintenance records.
Can you please elaborate exactly where in app i can enter maintenance record. Under Service i only have option to make an appointment.
It's under Health, then under Maintenance Schedule then Service History.
I've read on here and elsewhere both arguments, they can and they cannot deny coverage. My own opinion is why take that chance with an $80k-95k vehicle, I keep receipts for oil, filters and one-time-use gaskets*. And I make the entry on lexus.com.
I just did it the other day for my 5k mile oil change via the main website: Login to lexus.com > My Lexus > Service & Maintenance > My Service History > Service History > look for manually add service at the end of the sentence "If your history is not displaying below, you can manually add service."
For the Reported By field I've been putting in 'DIY by vehicle owner.' If I ever get work done by an independent or third-party shop I'll make the appropriate entries.
*Tip: A Toyota dealer in North Carolina had in Jan and Feb an incredible 25% off parts deal. They rerun the sale occasionally. With no cost shipping (yes even for heavy 6-pack cases of oil) and no out-of-state sales tax the total cost for eight qts of oil, one filter and one sacrificial gasket was $38.

I can see all history, include what they done at dealer.
Again I have some doubt that if they even changed oil filter at all, I would rather do it myself.
Update after a few months: I'm at 7.5 k miles and just did another oil change, my 5th oil change. I have not seen any evidence of oil blowing out of the cap. I've checked several times since the above, so I now cross this off my worry list.
Did you positively settle on the cause on your engine being a loose cap?

I think you have to consider that the people assigned to do Oil changes, for the most part, are not always skilled mechanics. It's the lowest paid guy in the shop and they need to bust them out as quickly as possible to make any money. On any car I like a lot (mostly my old 4Runners and FJ's), I always did my own oil changes. I knew of a toyota dealer (Lakeland Fl) years ago that was offering free oil changes for life if you bought from them. I'm reasonably certain, they had some sort of super filter system where they literally just recycled the oil that was drained out of every vehicle and that's what you got for "Free"... I don't know if they still do that or not, but no thanks. Oil changes are easy enough to do, and the peace of mind is worth the minimal effort as far as I'm concerned. If you want to be a little extra about it, keep good records, save the receipts,, write the mileage on the new filter, take a photo of it before you install it, then take a photo of the odometer all at the same time. Then save those pics to an album for your vehicle for future reference...
Yeah not a bad idea to keep records and photo evidence of everything. I just had my last “free” oil change so will likely start doing them soon. The GX looks like a breeze to change on your own, compared to the previous vehicles I’ve done it on!
It's a lot easier than a lot of recent vehicles I've owned. I just run mine up on ramps and with a creeper, I scurry around to loosen/remove the bolts holding the skid plates. Access to the filter and drain plug is a snap after that.
Quick tip from experience - don’t shortcut by leaving out attachment of the 5/8 plastic tube… not using it will result in oil dripping into holes in the steel member below it and then annoyingly continue to drop from the sides of that member.

I was watching a care care nut video last week, he was changing the oil on his personal 2024 tundra, which has the same vertical alignment of the funnel outlet positioned directly over the hollow frame cross-member. He seemed completely unaware of Toyota's intention to use a flexible hose.
He praised some 3-D printed spout to divert oil flow, presumably bought off ebay. And then criticized the toyota design. He's usually spot on but totally missed this detail.

that is pretty funny when he says after installing that flimsy piece of plastic that will spill over for sure: "I mean, how simple is that?" yeah, simpler than a 5/8" hose.
I read through several of the posts but not all so my apologies if this was discussed. Has anyone considered a fumoto valve? We have 4 5th gen 4runners and I have it on all 4. My second post because we just bought a GX, but please know I dont work for Fumoto. Just curious if anyone has tried it on the GX.

Yes, if you do a thread search with "fumoto" I believe there was a discussion several months ago. I have not tried but seems like a great idea.
