Hood flutter fix (1 Viewer)

Ford anyone know what’s considered “abnormal” hood flutter vs what’s to be expected? Mine has flutter but I just assumed it was normal because it’s aluminum.

I would say abnormal is that you can see it moving or hear it while on the highway. The hood goes all the way to the sides, not like other modern cars, so I do expect side wind to make the hood "vibrate" every now and then.

my 2025 delivered july has a flutter in the middle towards the driver side. not sure if this is supposed to be normal

My GX hood vibrates, mainly due to surface roughness, not speed, if you take the time to stare at it. But it's a lot less than my 2017 4Runner and about the same as the 2015 Tundra, and I never thought either of those was an issue at all.

I have zero problem with the GX hood.

took it in my '24 to get checked. Service report stated that clips were ordered to address the Hood flutter. no part numbers were listed and I picked up after the service dept closed so I don't have an explanation yet.

Mine is a 2024, production date 12/24. I took it in for the first service. I mentioned the hood flutter as mine has this problem. When I picked it up they said mine was not on the list to fix. The mechanic noted that the hood had the flutter on the receipt. I told them I would write to Lexus Corp. Office and see what they say. Paid a lot for this vehicle and it needs to be fixed.

Does anyone know if the new models come with the hood flutter fixed or are you still supposed to have the dealer do the foam fix?
Seems as a poster commented earlier that this only happened to the early units. I’m unfortunately still dealing with the fluttering even after the Lexus repair. I asked them to look at it when I took it in for 10k service and heard back yesterday that the repair did what it was supposed to do, that I can take a test drive with the mechanic. I don’t know if the fix from Lexus was done properly but I do know that there is more flex in the center area of the hood than any other Lexus I’ve owned in the past. I don’t want to sell and wait 6 mos. for another but it drives me crazy watching the flutter! I’m going to do the test drive but can’t see it changing anything. Any thoughts from those that have had this repair done will be welcomed.

I am in the same situation. They did the hood fix and a few weeks later it came back. Took it in for 20k mile service they said they see the hood flutter as well
They were gonna ask Lexus what to do I also called the Lexus 800 number and they have been following up with me every 2 days still waiting on parts…
My worry is they keep stuffing foam in the hood will it overheat ? Are they over insulating it? No appointment yet I’ll keep you posted there also doing transmission update.

Your dealership is probably taking a conservative approach because if they add too much foam, it will dent your hood as it expands. The TSB warns against adding too much. Your engine will not overheat due to too much foam. Hoods are typically not designed to conduct heat.

Aa when I picked it up from the 10k service they had me meet and drive with the mechanic who did the original fix to the hood. He and the service rep agreed there is still a flutter and Lexus is aware of it-trying to work on a solution. I’ve decided I will give them time because I really like the vehicle, just need to keep my eyes off the hood!
