Overtrail Suspension lift

How'd you spec the suspension mod? Did you work with King directly, and do they have one GX550 "kit" that includes the Camburg UCAs? Or did this take more dot-connecting than that? Would also love to know about wheel offset and how much things poke out of the wheel wells. (hard to tell from the pics)

Tastefully done setup for sure!
Thanks! You have options. You can go on Kings site to see their kit. Just put in your GX info. They've already spec'd them for the LC and GX. I preferred the Kings and Camburg arm over the others.... just my choice. Icon, Total Chaos, Ready-Lift and probably a few others make the shock kits and control arms. Without more lift, I didn't want to be too negative with the offset. Also wanted to keep close to the oem geometry. I think it worked out well for now. I'll get the articulation without smashing the well rims
specs are ... 295/70 18x9 +20

Any particular reason why you went with Camburg Kinetik? I'm still deciding between Total Chaos and Camburg. I like the blue finish of the Camburg but I'm reading that they're both very similar.

Just my preference. I like the billet over the tubular style. I went with blue to match the kings. It costs more though. Wasn't totally necessary. Going with a suspension upgrade though.., it's a good idea.

Has anyone done a true suspension lift on a GX550 Overtrail? Several options out now for the non-Overtrail, but I haven’t seen anything yet that allows you to continue using all the ride control, crawl and ekdss.

Any info much appreciated!
I have the King Suspension kit with Total Chaos UCA's. I upgraded from the Westcott collar lift. I'm running Toyo Open Country AT III 35" tires and love the setup.

Were you able to keep all the steering geometry within recommended range? Perfect alignment? How are the highway manners?

What exact tire size did you get? I'm trying to determine if 285/75R18 on OEM wheels will fit with the King lift without modification. Thanks.

35x12.5x17 on 17x8.5 Method wheels with +35 offset
Thank you. Based on your setup I believe 285/75R18 +50 offset OEM wheel should fit with the King lift. Still debating whether the Camburg Billet Blue is worth the premium over the Total Chaos UCA as the price difference is pretty large.

Yep I have as well as a few others. You do lose AVS, but no errors at all in the dash. Just unplug them at the shock and cap off or tape off the wire/connector. eKDSS still works. Running Dobinsons MRR extended travel with Icon tubular delta joint UCAs. Method 703's +35 offset BFG TAKO load c 315/70/17. I haven't put more info on here yet because I wanted to wait on my front bumper (JW Offroad) and my diff drop kit (Icon). At the moment, the ride is a bit stiff and I still feel all the small bumps too much (see overtrail vibration thread). The front bumper and winch will add around 200lbs I believe, and then once I decide what to do for rear bumper, that will hopefully add weight to smooth things out. Nose dive is WAY better than stock. Truck looks awesome and I don't have regrets at the moment.
I have a GX550 Luxury +, with Westcott Lift and Timbren Bump Stops, 17' Method Wheels, 35" BFG Tires. CBI Front Bumper w/Winch, CBI Rear Bumper w/Dual Swing Outs. Front end doesn't feel to bad but is being counter weighted by rear end addons. Ride in the rear is terrible the suspension isn't carring the load I'm basically sitting on the bump stops. I'm sure I need to redo the suspension lift. To have a great performing vehicle (Not a Racing LEVEL) that I can enjoy on and offroad what do you suggest?

Honestly, I would hold off a bit. These shock companies need more time to do tweaking. I got the Dobinsons mainly because they have a reputation for lasting longer without rebuilding, and also because of their adjustability. Icon now has electronically adjustable shocks. You might want to try those so you can stiffen up your rears when you need to.

Good advice. My contact at Johnson Lexus is calling me today to talk about options. I figured I was going to be pushing the Westcott and OEM shocks beyond their limitatons. I like the addons, my driving style on and offroad demands a great suspension. Was planning to drive cross country this summer, but not until I make changes, I don't like driving it around the block currently. lol

I can say you loose nothing. AVS is nice and the computer is doing all the work. They're still a oem shock. No codes are set when they're disconnected. The King ride is as plush as oem if not more. I did expect it to be a little stiffer of a ride but, the out of the box, the adjusts seem right on. There's 20 clicks on the damper to chose from.

since the KINGS dont come with rear springs, did you stick with the factory rear springs, also if you did does it still level front to back?

My set up might be a little different than others. I have a bumper/winch on the front. The ride was good with the out of the box Kings and oem springs but, it needed a little something. I felt the rear was a bit spongy. I added preload to the Kings and because of that, Dobinsons with an extra 1/2". Made a world of difference and kept it level. If just doing the Kings out of the box, it's pretty level.

Which load limit did you get? I'm trying to decide if I should get the 500-700 lb springs. I have the Icon dual rate springs now but nobody knows the load rating. My vehicle is level now with a drawer system installed. Just afraid it might sag if I install the aux fuel tank and hitch tire carrier.

I stuck with the oem rate. Just added a little height. I don't have that kind of weight back there so, there was no need to increase the load rate. If I were you though, with what you have... I'd do it. Springs are cheap and easy to install so, if you don't like it, it's not a big deal to go back
