Phone mount (1 Viewer)

I have the BRCOVAN motorcycle fort stem mount 1'' ram base in the lighter hole. Going to the MagSafe 1" ram. I chose to put a piece of rubber in the bottom of the lighter hole, but you can pull the fuse or disconnect it.
Would you mind sharing the links for the 2 items you mentioned?

aaaand there's no issue with sticking the stem mount ram base into the lighter hole? Idk why but the image of getting electrocuted (like if you stick your finger into a wall socket~?) or that there'd be a current or such...comes to mind. Or is that what the piece of rubber is for? And... anyway to provide more detail on said piece of rubber used~

Your setup looks super clean and I'd love to set mine up as well~ Thank you!

I purchased the Quad Lock motorcycle fork mount, and a mag charging head. Fits perfectly in the 12V socket and works great. I have Quadlock mounts in my other vehicles, and already had the case, but you will need to use a Quadlock case with their mounts.

I've grown the really like my ProClips mount. I stick it in there before i even get in the truck and never have to think about charging, connecting to CarPlay etc. And it's easy to see, without blocking any part of the road.

Hey All,

I can't take credit for this idea, but I can confirm it works great. Originally posted by @Robkelhare
I ordered the:

BRCOVAN Metal Motorcycle Fork Stem Mount Base with 1'' TPU Ball for Stem Holes

RAM Mounts RAP-B-201U-A Composite Double Socket Arm - Short Arm Compatible with B Size 1" Ball

Peak Design Mobile Ball Mount Adapter, Qi1 Wireless Charging, Magnetic Mounting Technology, MagSafe Compatible

6 inch USB C to USB C Cable Right Angle, 0.5ft Short USB-C Cable 100W, USBC 3.2 Gen2x2 20Gbps 4K Video, 90 Degree Type C to C Charging Cord

The original post didn't suggest a wireless Qi1 Magsafe charger, so you'd end up having to plug in your phone each time if you wanted to charge while driving. Now, I just slip it onto the magnet and go... very easy. This set-up doesn't rattle and works great even on bumpy roads (like my driveway).

We don't get enough nebula grey pearl pictures around here.

That looks great. (y)(y)

@BoostedGX The solution I posted charges a phone while mounted. I don't see a wire on/near your mount. Assuming it simply holds a phone. I'm sure that's great for some, but others may want their phone to charge while mounted. Cheers!

Posted this Offroam mount in another thread

@munkeeboi I considered this option prior to deciding which avenue to go down. I like the way is sits snugly on the dash, above the start button. I didn't care for the fact that while the phone is mounted, it obstructs several of the digital screen functions i.e. car play, navigation etc.). I also liked the way it can be angled so the phone uses face recognition to automatically unlock. I did not care for the wire that travels down behind the large screen and then drapes along the side and across the bottom corner of the screen to be plugged in. as a minimalist, I was looking for a solution that maintained functionality without being messy. The solution I posted offers minimal wire exposure, magnetic charging, adjustable angle (for face recognition while driving) and does not render the front cup holder useless (a priority for when the wife is sitting shotgun). On the negative side of the solution I posted, lies the fact that it renders the cigarette lighter useless. For me, this poses no problem, but I concede that it may be less than ideal for our nicotine loving friends. I suppose others may even want to use the 12 volt for added USB and/or USBC ports, to each their own, as they say. Otherwise, I'm sure the Offroam mount will be perfect for many users. Cheers!

@pwells89 I more or less have the same setup as you have now and have gone with it for about.a year now and I have never really been happy with the viewing location, so I'm trying something new that has the ability to charge at the same time. I have the same concerns of my phone blocking the center screen as well, but I have a couple lengths of extensions to swing it away from the screen as that would bother me too. We'll see. Just trying this out since the lower location was not an ideal location for me. I have some ideas on concealing the wire, but running it behind the screen will keep it out of the way in the short term.

You are correct, no charging but a standard Apple usbC reaches just fine and runs over the steering wheel if need be

I
I don't own a 3D printer so I bought this one - Lexus GX 550 Apple iPhone Magsafe Charger Mount - fits perfectly and occupies the biggest wasted space.

I really enjoyed the quality of the offroam mount in my previous 4Runner, may end up getting that too.
I really like this design, I emailed asking if they could print with a slightly tilted head toward the driver. If not possible the adjustable RAM mounts look to better key. One question to the Brain Trust, what are you using as the part that mounts on the 12v plug to support this? I don’t want the 12v to be hot all the time so the USB-C to the port is the smart call. TIA for the assstance.

Sorry, dumb question, but which part goes into the lighter socket, assume the BRCOVAN fork stem mount? Isn’t there any issues with putting something metal into the socket?

Here's another option...

I put a small piece of rubber under the stem mount. However, you could simply pull the fuse.
