Dang…definitely needs some helper bags pulling that kind of weight to level it out6klbs of cattle plus the trailer weight.
It didn’t squat much, maybe an inch. Pulled fine. When the animals move around at highway speeds it can introduce some instability. I don’t run over 60mph when hauling them.Dang…definitely needs some helper bags pulling that kind of weight to level it out
I replied earlier in this thread (#33). Since then I have switched to another camper and have upgraded my rear springs with air bags, and added a Victory 4x4 rear bumper with a swing out to carry two 5-gal cans for gas. The springs and air bags (at 22 psi) have really helped tame any sway. Plus it all rides very level now. Before with the stock springs and the earlier camper, I got into a sway on I-70 I thought was going to flip me. New camper is a bit lighter at 4300 lbs dry. The MDC campers are pretty rugged underneath so are a bit heavy. But experience so far is the camper does great off-road. Already went to Moab & Hanksville and headed out that way again in May. Love the GX torque!

The rear springs are from Dobinson. They provide a 1 inch lift with a higher load rating. I'm on the road right now and forget the number. The lift really made the difference on the leveling of the ride with the camper hooked up. Otherwise, the GX looks like it got kicked in the fanny a little bit. I know that look annoys some but it doesn't bother me and my satisfaction comes from knowing how well it works towing the camper. And we will be doing that a lot.Really nice setup Bendou!
Did you do some sort of a lift, or just heavier springs and airbags?
Are the OE rubber bump stops inside the springs removable (and replaceable) via a bolt, or did you have to cut them out permanently?
Planning to tow my 2k2 500 miles to a massive vintage car meet the middle of next month. I’ve never towed with the GX before. Does anyone have any tips or precautions to share?
