Upgrading speakers in base 10-speaker stereo (1 Viewer)

I tried the same in my OT, however the tabs on the KSC350 are too short. The drivers are also too deep and stop them from sitting flush in the space by about 1/4". Do you have any details on how you got them to fit?
not the person you were asking, but I Asked a similar question...here was his repsonse.

Would love to hear your thoughts once you have them installed

The speakers themselves are held in by two 10 mm bolts. The speaker harness releases by pushing a small clip. The replacement speakers didn't fit exactly, but do fit. The mounting depth on the corner dash speakers is about 1.5 inches. I was just able to get the replacement speakers to fit the space. I reused the factory 10 mm bolts/washers. I put a bolt through one of the holes on the speaker bracket. The other hole didn't line up, but the bolt/washer was still able to secure it in place

I'm fortunate enough to have a 3d printer at home and I ended up printing some adapter plates to raise the KSC350's about 6mm. Also had to extend the tabs out further so I could get the screws into both tabs. I need to extend the hole distance on the next pair as I messed up that dimension in this pair but I was still able to get them to fit regardless.

Do you have the STLs posted anywhere

KSC350_Adapter_Plate

I made some modifications to the hole spacing to match the OEM Speaker. Before inserting the screws (#4 x 1/2), I ran a 1/16 drill bit through the small hole next to the lettering to make them easier to screw in. These are now marked accordingly for the left / right hand side of the car. One thing to mention is that the wiring block on the speaker needs to face the windshield / corner of the car, they won't fit the other orientation as the AC ducts interfere. The top lid was a little tight on mine but still clipped in and doesn't appear to be distorted.

haven't had much of a chance to test out the speakers yet but will do in the next couple days...

Cheers

Awesome!
Yeah that looks like a great setup.
I'm looking forward to what you think of the speakers.
Enjoy!

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. Are these the only placement you are doing? Interested to see if it meshes well with the rest of the system.

Finally got my car! yay! I have also have purchased KSC350s, they were already here before the car. (don't tell the wife)

The stock system seems very good. Is there that big of a difference? If my ears can't tell I might just have to skip the upgrade.

Pic or it didn't happen :)
haha this is the only pic I have. I'll take more this weekend when the wheels go on. I think I throw up a little every time I look at those premium+ wheels. Just like you guys, I've read and watched every review...coming from a 19 4runner, this thing is an amazing car. Glad I didn't go with the LC.

In audiophile speak yes, you’re always going for the sound stage to be out in front and like it’s hovering over the hood. With OEM’s now delivering multi (10+) speaker systems using surround sound, DSP etc. people are used to having more sound coming from behind. In the end it’s “your” ears that matter most and nothing wrong if you like it more immersive. This base system I find to be very “soft” in the higher frequencies so it benefits from bumping them near the max along with the lows. Mid range is good centered “flat” or just above. If this system had a decent 10 or “12” sub being driven with its own amp it would rival any high end system I’ve installed. Spent $7k trying to elevate the lackluster factory system in my new Bronco and I like the base GX better. I won’t be messing with mine any further. View attachment 4217
I am not an audiophile, so I'll take any expert advice I can get. Just adjusted my over trail to these settings and it does sound much better. Good enough for me! Thank you.
