👋 Welcome to the Lexus GX 550 Forum! Please post an introduction thread! (4 Viewers)

Hello all. I’m in Hampton Roads VA and looking to pick up a GX in the near future. This is the first Lexus SUV I find is gorgeous as I felt previous designs were a bit too gaudy for me. Not trying to dunk on the old model but I just wasn’t interested in the design language.

I’ve always been a Land Rover fan but pricing and reliability is a turn off and I find the GX550 to be what Land Rover should have designed.

Also anyone ever get the vibe the rear end of the GX550 is incarnate of a Mitsubishi Montero Sport? Haha.

Hello from Northern Sconie! Bought my GX this summer and drove it to our winter home in Arizona. 2500+ miles of smooth, flawless performance up hills, down hills...... Its the smoothest quietest vehicle I have owned. Got rid of a clunky, rattle trap 2022 Tahoe. I really cant say enough about the performance and handling of this vehicle including a flawless first visit to Bell Lexus for tire rotation/oil change. With that said, a few minor edits Lexus must make going forward:
1. The electrical connections face downward, and you have to lie flat on your back to plug in trailer wires. This must change.
2. Using the APP for remote starts is not practical. Put it on the key fob like customers want. Nobody in Northern Sconie wants to fiddle w/ their phone when its -30F. Put the remote start on the key fob!
3. Every time you get in the vehicle, you must "undarken" the rear view mirror. Asked dealer about this, they have no fix/solution. The dark view makes it impossible to see when wearing sunglasses.
4. Better design storage cubbies in the front! There needs to be room for glasses, keys, etc. There is no storage to speak of.
5. I bought aftermarket plastic covers for the phone charger and cup holder areas to prevent from scratches and spills. Lexus you can do better!
6. With iPhones/Androids, does Lexus even need their own navigation APP?
This are little nitpicky items compared to the flawless ride and performance. Should make them all the easier to incorporate in 2026....

Welcome….. A vibe may be the only similarity. The GX 550 operates quietly energetically and flawlessly. All attributes the Montero wished for. Go get one!

Why not get the OT if you’re going to fit off road gear, lift etc. on the GX? Don’t you want the rear dif and E-KDSS? Would not even consider taking a Luxury with wheels that big off road.
Have a look at NYTop they have some cool front and rear bumper replacements you might like.
Get a real suspension kit the collars are …eh..

New member here from SOCAL! Always been in the Toyota family. First Lexus and probably not the last. Family and I are on our quest to go to every National Park and explore. Been to 8 so far in the last 2 years. Was living in Japan for while(6 years). Hope to learn new things about the GX platform. Premium + Nori Green, wheel Methods 318+40 with BFG KO3’s 275/70R18. Lift is in the near future either kings or icon.

Hello from the Bay Area. Have absolutely loved our GX for the last year. This forum has provided some incredible info. I'm ready to start our build and look forward to more family trips in this beast. Looking forward to losing the factory rack🌬️. Leaning toward dissent rack and icon suspension lift or ARB/OME. Having trouble finding any suspension lift which works with ekdss and therefore having second thoughts if its worth it to lose ekdss and AVS. Thoughts?

Hi All! I officially joined the GX community this past Thursday after six months of trying to reel mine in. I went with an Overtrail Plus trim as my wife and I enjoy off-road travels. Our other vehicle is a Bronco and we've had a blast with that. Now we have two off-road rigs and are looking forward to even more adventures!

I had found several excellent threads in here while waiting to bring my GX home and now that I finally got it, it was time to join this forum. I look forward to learning a lot more from the more experienced folks here. And who knows? Maybe one day I'll be able to provide some knowledge to others? Baby steps. 😁

Hey guys, new here. Went to JM Lexus in South East Florida on Sunday and she fell in love with GX550 Luxury + white on dapple grey. Waiting to hear on allocation to either order or see if they can do dealer trade for same spec. Hopefully they can do dealer trade and get sooner than a couple of months. She is coming out of a 2019 Honda Pilot Elite (has been great with two small kids since they trashed the damn car lol). Won't be the case with the GX. I am going to have whole front end PPF'd then ceramic coated. She Then wrap top in black and have wheels blacked out (or maybe buy aftermarket rims tbd). Looking forward to learning more about the car and happy to be here!

My car is a 23 Ram TRX that i converted to running on full E85 and makes over 1,000CHP. Also white on black.

What’s going on everyone? My name is Shosh, and I found this forum while researching a solution for mounting a license plate to the front bumper of my GX. Ended up getting a Platypus which is awesome! Anyway, after parsing some of the threads I decided to join.

My story: I picked up my (actually my wife’s) GX550 after 7 months waiting for a 2025 Lux+ in Nori Green w/ Saddle interior. Sold my 2019 NX F Sport w/ 14k miles to Carvana for $30.8k because my Lexus dealer was offering $27k on a trade in. For those interested, Carvana met us at the dealership, inspected the car, and we received the full $30.8k in our account that evening. Super easy transaction.

Anyway, super excited to be here and looking forward to reading everyone’s experience with their GX!

Congrats and welcome.

Hi everyone - new GX550 owner here in Oklahoma. I put my name on my local dealer's list for a GX550 Luxury+ in March of 2024 and just took delivery this week, never imagined the wait would be so long. We went with Nori Green and saddle interior. It is the second Lexus in our fleet (our 2017 GS350 F Sport is still going strong). Also have a beloved 2013 370Z.

Day one I had the GX front clip wrapped with PPF. So far we're thrilled with the GX, Lexus knocked it out of the park. Looking forward to learning more about the GX on the forum.

Welcome.
Tulsa dealer? I’ve really enjoyed buying from them. 2 month wait and no deposit required for our OT.
