Will be selling (1 Viewer)

Great conversation guys. I took a hard look at the Defender and came close to buying one. I love my OT. I bought it strictly for recreational use. I'm not big on sound or ride but I love it off-road. Rick, you have a good looking truck there. Hope you enjoy it. Come back when your out of warranty.

Air suspension is great...until the shocks pop and it's $2000 per axle for replacements. And then the compressor goes out and it's another couple thousand to repair. And when it goes out, you're not moving the vehicle. Awesome when you're 50 miles offroad and you hear air hissing out of the shocks when the suspension extends on that corner and exposes a hole in the air bag. Or you have to pull over and let the compressor cool down because it's working non-stop to try to stay ahead of the leaks. Then the air compressor just gives up the fight.
I had a vehicle with Air Suspension years ago. Never again. One of my major items when buying a new vehicle since then is No Air Suspension. I passed on several SUV's before finding the new GX 550 because they had air suspension.

I made the mistake of overloading my X5M - cost a mere $5k to fix - would never own air suspension again...

I’m still waiting for mine to go out on our 2017 Benz. We spent the summer of 2021 towing the camper trailer to a lot of places, a couple dirt roads, etc. The auto leveling is great of course.
I have zero proof it’s helped..but I routinely use the different drive modes, and the full raise height (until about 35 mph, it then lowers back to normal). It sits in the garage for days at at a time fully raised.
I think I’ve just been lucky. 😬

I have also been a Land Rover guy for 20+ years and switched to the GX550. I just cant get on board with the new style. It aggravates me to no end that they call that a defender.

As bad as the defender looks - the Discovery is even more horrific. How could anyone find the LR4 - which for decades was a beast- in that cluster of a design.

I had a 1996, a 2004, and a 2013 Discovery (the 2013 LR4 is a Disco 4 in the RoW). The newer discoveries are jelly bean station wagons.

Lots to like about the GX but turns out after 3800 miles it is not for me. Luxury model, white with saddle tan/brown trim interior. Will post more details later. What suggestions do you have as to the best way to sell and the price to ask? Thanks.
I’m in Charlotte looking for the same make n model,
How much you looking to get?

I agree! I love those "real" Defenders.

Until you want to go real highway speeds...I ended up getting the supercharged V8. My primary need is on-road performance and handling, but knowing that I can go off road or deal with weather as needed. I'll be mounting up snow tires in the winter.

My cousin and his entire family all drive RR's. They are beautiful and have a lot of fine features for an everyday driver. I mean you see a lot more of them on the road than you do GX's especially where I live. Like 10 to 1 here on the Southern Cal Coast. If this works for you that's great. Enjoy!

Yes, RR's are ideally suited for the challenging urban terrain we have in SoCal - lots of dealer options as well for the numerous and seemingly endless repairs required.

I gotta say, I'm really liking the LR (not RR - different beast). 515 horsepower with no turbo lag is very smile inducing. And amazingly, I got about 70 miles more out of the tank than I ever got with my GX. Different vehicle altogether of course. I also like the CarPlay integration much better in the Defender - it shows whatever navigation app you want on the dash independent of what you're showing on CarPlay (works with Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps, and even MyRadar). Not just turn by turn directions - full maps and other info. The Meridian sound system sounds better than the ML also.

In retrospect, the OT+ would have been a much better choice for me than the Luxury, but that's what was available.
