24 vs 25 OT OEM 1” Lift Details via reddit

The body/paint/build out was done by a good friend of mine in West Plains, MO named Jason Harris at Ozark Overland Outfitters. My mechanical stuff on the 80, and my others, has been done with an another good friend of mine named Eric Gunther at Eric's Automotive in Pascagoula, MS. He was the master mechanic for nearly 20 years at the local Toyota store and decided to open his own shop a few years back. He's the only guy on the gulf coast that I let touch my trucks.

He just finished the spring upgrade on my GX550 and here is the outcome:
What size tire? 285/75? 285/70?

285/75-18 Toyo Open Country AT/3, measures 34.8" tall. I've been running them without any lift or mods since the day I bought it, but I anticipated a front bumper that never materialized, hence the suspension upgrade. I liked the stuffed look, but I also really like the difference now.

Also, for the record, the springs I ordered from Longo Lexus were the 48131-60U30 and the 481231-60Q00.

Oh damn and no rub!?

Tempted to join the club but my garage entry is only about 2-3” above my cross bars already. Also my wife is 5’2” and my parents already complain about getting in/out with the OE rock rails lol

The measurements he took were from the center of the fender at each wheel from the ground.
Third photo is how sits currently and fourth one is the best photo I had of the side profile before.
are your tires factory size? cause my measurements after the install are your measure before install.
I didnt measure before the install

Thanks for providing this info. Looks like you did go up about an inch as a result. I'm assuming those before/after measurements were apples to apples, no tire changes?
I would enjoy hearing your thoughts about whether the extra 1" has any impact on how it drives around on the streets/highways too.
Thanks again for being the trail blazer here.
Best,
Mark

I‘be ordered a pair of the front 25 OT coils for my 2024 Landcruiser. I was going to put the Westcott preload kit on but decided to go this route instead. I know the GX front axle carries about 300lbs more than the LC but couldn’t find any info on spring rates between the two so It’s a bit of a gamble. I’ll be using the Westcott .75” spring spacers for the rear. I’ll let you guys know how this plays out from a LC perspective. I’m curious to see how much lift this gives the LC and what it does to ride quality. I’ll keep you posted.
Were you able to get them installed yet?

I have been making observations on how I feel the ride has changed.

It’s better, in my opinion. And I think it’s from stretching out already very comfortable suspension a touch more. When I bought the truck in August, I drove it directly home from Ft. Lauderdale and the next day had the 34.8” tires mounted, so I can’t say if I ever knew what was being referenced with the shaking on the highway, that some have mentioned. These larger tires were only available in a 10 ply (E rated) and having exclusively driven Land Cruisers on all-terrains for the last twenty-five years, I have come to accommodate the ride, likely more than others have…basically, I don’t notice it or let it bother me.

But the new springs on this truck have made a difference, and on my way home from Mobile the other night (I live in Pascagoula , about 25 interstate miles away) I *Thought I noticed a smoother ride. Bottom line, I’ve been very pleased with it around town, since I got it back, and have noticed a difference in how it has been equally firmed up and gotten better at the same time, if that makes sense?

Be gentle on me, I am a rookie...I did read all 7 pages of the thread and I do not completely understand. Question is: on my 2025 Premium Plus, can I replace the front springs with the Overtrail front springs, and get about another 1" in the front, and level it out a bit? Did it turn out as simple as that, and can I do that on a Premium Plus? Could this spring change create any problems with warranty, vehicle computer, any problems? I seem to be pretty good at creating my own problems. Slee sliders/running boards go on next week, OT tires/wheels next week, then LC250 roof rack, then ppf, ceramic coating, ceramic tint the windows...and then hopefully thats it??? PS...I probably will not even go on a gravel road. Thanks for your help!

First off, welcome! Glad to have you!

As far as your truck goes, your mods sound like a solid plan, but maybe do the pod/ceramic coat pre-roof rack.

And regarding the ‘25 OT spring kit, I cannot tell you with any certain that they’re compatible with any model but the OT/OT+. My guess would be a ‘no’, based on an entirely different vision for the individual models, however, I cannot say that for certain.

Perhaps someone could chime in and give our new friend proper info?

Thank you for all the information and detail! Exactly what a lot of us were waiting for. Unless someone figures out how to stuff that 285 spare under the back end, I'll be doing the same thing but with the 275 AT3's. Now to just find someone to install the springs here in Houston as I like to limit my drives through Baton Rouge on I-10 to "never again if I can help it"
