24 vs 25 OT OEM 1” Lift Details via reddit (1 Viewer)

Coil ETA was 4-6 weeks for the rears and 2-3 weeks for the fronts. They all arrived today, 6 days after ordering. So good news delivery much faster. Of course I hadn’t called my independent shop to schedule bringing the GX in since delivery was going to be mid July.

I’ll work installation plans next week.

Additional information. I had snapped a photo of a 2025 OT front spring at delivery and the color markings were white & blue. Same color markings on my new springs (48131-60U30). Looking at my 2024 OT shows front color markings as blue & blue. The 2025 front coils are just under 8 1/2 turns total.

Looking at the rear coils my 2024 has white/brown/pink as the color markings from the bottom up. My 2025 rear coils (48231-60Q00) show white/pink/brown as colors. I did not snap a photo of the rear coil on the 2025 OT I photographed. The 2025 rear coils are 7 1/2 turns total.

Free length of the 2025 F/R coils is 16 13/16”. The fronts and rears are the same free length.

Visual driveway inspection of my 2024 OT truck as-built looks like the 2025 coils have 1 additional turn versus the 2024 coils. The spring diameters similar. All things being the same an extra coil turn would result in a softer (lower spring rate) coil. But this wouldn’t provide lift. So, I suspect the 1” lift is because the 2025 coils are also taller than the 2024 coils. This would support @rovensail comment a few posts ago (#134) that there GX actually rides improved. If the coils have an extra turn and are longer this totally makes sense that the resulting ride would be softer.

Of course, once I have the 2024 coils pulled I’ll take some pictures and length measurements. This could actually be a case where lifting the truck could improving the ride?!?! Will share my thoughts once they are on.

Welcome 2025 OT owners advising if they see the same spring color dots on their front coil (white/Blue) and rear coil (white/pink/brown).

Hi, mine were installed today by Lexus of Nashville. Did a great job. Service guys were interested in the process (and the NYTOP bumper and sliders I had on it) so I think they paid some quality attention. Pics Left and Right with measurements pre/post, and a front view and pic of the old springs in the box. Got the expected 1" lift.
[EDIT: if someone wants the 2024 springs and can manage the logistics, I'll part with them for a bargain price. PM me if interested]

Cool. If you could, count the number of coil turns your existing springs have and also their free-length. My visual inspection says the 2025 springs have an extra coil turn.

I measured my 2025 coils and they are 16 13/16 inches tall. I’m expecting the ones that came off are shorter. Please measure and share if able.

Gracias.

Hi, I'll do that tomorrow and post a report.

I measured the 2024 springs that Lexus removed yesterday, picture attached. Both sets of springs had 7.5 turns. The larger ones were 17" tall and smaller 16" tall. The way I measured that was from bottom surface the springs were sitting on to the highest point of the end of the 1/2 turn of the spring at the top. As you can even see in the picture, the front and rear springs are clearly a different free length. But same 7.5 turns for each. From my pictures of the 2025s on the GX, there is a 1" lift in front and almost 1" in the rear. Measuring that resulting lift isn't super accurate, but pretty close.

Great info. Thanks for posting the details and pics.
I’m assuming that the rear spring isolators are the same size/part number on both ‘24 and ‘25?

I don't know the answer to that. The 2025 springs I had installed were
2x Spring Coil Front - 48131-60U30
2x Spring Coil Rear - 48231-60Q00

I think others have reported that those part numbers are the only differences between the 2025 and 2024, but I haven't confirmed that otherwise.

Has anyone gone with an independent shop to install the 25 springs on a 24 OT+? My local shop is saying they can't disable eKDSS to depressurize the system and as a result, they can't disconnect the sway bar from the front suspension. Interestingly the shop contacted King, Icon, and a few other well known suspension shops and all seem to be a bit confused by the system (including King shocks saying regular OT models have "regular" KDSS while the OT+ has eKDSS??)

An independent off-road shop in my area quoted me $300 per front spring and $100 for alignment and leave it with him all day. The dealership quoted me $1050 with a three hour appointment with a loaner vehicle. After hearing some of the nightmare scenarios with independent shops, I think the dealership sounds like better option.

Alot of people are messaging me about how the local shop is having problems installing springs due to ekdss. This video shows how to install springs without touching the edkss. Just show your shop this video, thats what I did.

The E-KDSS on the GX is on the front of the suspension arm, unlike the Land Cruiser which has the sway bar mounting on the rear of the arm. EKDSS gets in the way of removing the shocks on the GX.

I have removed the EKDDS end link from the GX arm and put it back on without doing anything special.

I decided to have my dealer do everything because I wanted to torture them if things go wrong in the future without them fighting me about how the springs were swapped incorrectly, etc.

Good news. My indy shop was able to get the EKDSS depressurized enough by disconnecting the battery. Looks like the rest will be straightforward.

Update! My 2025 OT springs are installed, as expected the truck is 1” higher front and rear. While I (with my older son’s help) fully swapped out and upgraded every suspension component on my Tacoma I decided it would get done much quicker (and easier) by swiping the credit card at a local shop. They did a great job.

I’m taking it in for an alignment in a couple days. Ride quality is good, still body on frame firm, perhaps a little less jittery. Will know more once it is aligned and I take it out and about.

I provided the shop the springs, they charged me $1.2K to do the install. Higher than I hoped, but I happily paid for it.

Now to talk to my local tire shop about test fitting some 34” and 35” tires.

I've had the 25 springs on for a week and a half now. Ride quality for day to day stuff seems improved and less sensitive to small road imperfections. At higher speed turns, it feels like there's a bit more understeer, but it has been hard to objectively measure. On some turns like a particular right hand highway sweeper, I can still take at 74mph before and after, but there's more body roll than I remember. Even so, that's an expected tradeoff for lifting the truck and I didn't buy the GX to be a sports car.

My Indy shop installed the springs for $785. The trick for us was to disconnect the battery to allow the ekdss system to relieve pressure on the sway bar so he could remove the sway bar links.
