Aftermarket Rock Sliders With Step (1 Viewer)

I will say that the CBI sliders are really nice once installed. The kickout gives a really nice platform into the back seat and access to the roof rack. They don't flex at all, and CBI knows about the hardware issue and has fixed it.
Did they finally resolve your hardware issue? I still haven’t made a purchase but was thinking of the Dissent ones as an alternative to CBI

I had to jump through some hoops, but yes, the money was refunded. And I'm not sure if you saw my other post about the bumper or not.. but they are also making that right for me. I don't love the fact that it took a social media post to get them to provide customer service. But now that I am finally in direct communication with someone there, they are going above and beyond.

I’d go Westcott if wanting tubular design or kickout, and Slee for the square/subtle look. If I’m not mistaken, both are built in-house in the States. Nothing against products made elsewhere, but seems like both make quality products and have great customer support.

No offense to westcott, but I really like the look of the CBI over theirs. Unless you are getting the angled ones, I think those are worth pursuing but do not work as a step. Otherwise I agree, slee is my ultimate pic.

The thing I liked about the CBI ones is they don't taper as much as the others do. I need to use them as steps for family and the Slee ones taper midway through the rear door, so I prefer a design that keeps more of a step

That is 100% true, my wife absolutely loves the new sliders because she can wear high heels and still get in and out of the vehicle. Whereas the factory running boards and other brands did not offer a wide enough step. Also, it is that much more protection to keep you off of rocks and trees. I definitely utilize my CBI kick out sliders on my FJ to the fullest. I just wish they had top plates.

I want a step for my wife but as minimal as I can get away with. I hate using steps.

I’ve ordered the wescotts but am now wondering if something else (nytop?) are more svelte?

Anyone care to measure how far each stick out?

The NYTOP stick out about 4 inches.

Has anyone bought the GreenLane Offroad rock sliders? They look good and have options for kickout and flat or angled.

the NYTOP rock slider works as a step, I did not measure how far out it was vs. the OEM boards, but seems a little narrower.

Looks like the Slees stick out about 3.0-3.25 inches past the plastic sill under the door. The same measurement on the Westcotts is about 3.75-4.0 inches. It's hard to get an exact number...would have to use an upright level to know fo sho.

10000000% percent go with Dissent! Best quality and I also, and I'm biased since I have them, believe they have the best design aesthetics.

I too have Dissent, solid, works well as a step. I have absolute confidence they will perform when called on.

But, here is the thing. They’re an absolute pain to install. No instructions, just a couple minute video on YT.

I thought they had a wrong part as one of the brackets interfered with an e-KDSS hard-line. I learned via email after I reached out that I needed to hand-form an e-KDSS hard line. Also, I had to have my 15-year old start the bolts for the driver rear-most bracket as there is no way for an adult hand to fit. So, call me irritated.

So, if Dissent updates their design I’m all for them.

If they do not then YMMV and I would look at alternatives that are truly bolt-on.

Anyone heard of or have used White Knuckle Off Road sliders? I plan to go with their product (the 1" wider Shelby special), probably going to get them on the upcoming Black Friday sale.

They are famous for just doing sliders and are apparently good at it. build quality, material usage and customer service is allegedly top of the business. On top of that, they are local to Southern California. Not trying to sell them but I do think their product is good. It is the tubular look FYI.

White Knuckle Off Road Sliders

$1,420 (w/o sale, they have 10% off now for Labor Day - waiting for Black Friday) for 0.120" DOM Tube Steel, Powercoated, 4" Main Rail, accounts for the KDSS, full dimpled top plate with kick-out at rear, 5 mounting points to the frame. Plus shipping $200 for my location but I will likely pick it up.
