Aftermarket Rock Sliders With Step

I still don't get all the holes in it. I know you want it to drain but those seem like dirt and weed scoops to me. not all the 3rd party skid plates have them. The Toyota TRD has almost none which makes more sense.
Maybe trying to avoid trapping the heat from the catalytic converters, but may be just for style, or lightening it a bit.

I’ve had lots of skid plates on lots of trucks….I’ll take lots of holes to release heat, reduce weight, and promote drainage and rinsing out mud & gravel any day. I drilled large-diameter holes in one of my last Rover’s solid skid plate to help the cats lose heat. Solid skid plates also just hold mud & gravel- the solid part of the equation doesn’t keep mud & gravel out of there!

Got my NYTOP rock sliders installed today. Used a floor jack to support them in the middle. The only thing to be careful of is when lifting them up you want to make sure that the 2 or 3 lines/tubes/wires up there are not between the slider mounts and the frame. They have appropriate cutouts for anything like that, but you do have to line them up initially. Only one bolt was slightly awkward to tighten due to the mounting bracket being in the way of getting a ratchet up there, but an open-end ratchet wrench worked fine. They look nice I think and are very beefy. I'm glad I have them on. I had the running boards off for a couple days before mounting the NYTOP sliders and really like the way the GX looked. However, the protection is good and not having to 'jump out' of the cab is nice. I'm average height at best, so having something to step on is nice.

Good question for any third party skid plates. Some have a nice access hatch for oil changes. Most? Not sure about the NYtop ones.
I just received the Slee skids today, I'll get some pictures of the install soon. Has a removable hatch for the oil drain, they made a shorter front plate that comes off with 4 bolts to access the oil filter. Pretty slick design.

I did the Slees also. They’re great, and have excellent grip with the upturned slots and surface finish. I don’t see any wear yet from entry and egress.

I went with the Slee sliders and am very happy with them

Now I'm looking at Slee Skids too.
Installed mine yesterday, Check out my post. It has sam updates for Slee that I have sent to them, so hopefully they will change their instructions and add a couple parts to the hardware kit. Otherwise, they're awesome.

I am struggling with running boards on my premium plus...did not like the silver on the OEM. Got the OT illuminated, and did not like all the plastic. Your looks great! How was the install? I am pretty useless, so I will have my local body shop install...I am assuming that they should be able to figure it out???? And I really want them as a step for my wife. Do you think that they stick out too much? They seem a bit larger than some of the other popular brands. Do you know how the Slees compare in size to the OEM running boards? Are they all black or gray/black? Sorry for all the questions, trying to get it right the third time. Thanks for your help!

I had the Slee shop do the install since I was coming through town.
Yes any decent shop is no issue, I could have done myself with a couple extra tools.
They definitely don’t stick out too far, just about right IMO.
I haven’t really noticed the OEM boards.. haven’t measured or anything like that.
They are all black, 2 slightly diff finishes..but all black.
My wife finds them great, she is 5’4”. Even when I do a lift, and even larger tires..she will be able to get in, out with no issue.
As I stated above the grip is really outstanding.
Yep I really like them a lot.
Let me know if you need extra pictures beyond what I posted above. 😊

Thanks a ton for the feedback! Slee sent me some pictures with the measurements after install, and about the exact same size as the OEM running boards...except, all metal, no plastic, extra underside protection, and I think better step function. I ordered the Slee...and now I have two sets of Lexus running boards to try to sell :). Thanks again for your help!

Good luck on selling those others, I have same issue with my original OT rock rails. They’re too expensive to ship, and I’m too far from anywhere to otherwise sell them. They are laying out under a tree, no worse the wear!
I almost did a trade-in last night for a ‘25 OT, but my wife axed that idea! The ‘24 roof rack and rock rails would have gone back on for the trade. Now I think they are headed to our local recla metal drop off. 🙁
The Slee SliderStep feels safer to me than my other previous running boards, zero slip. It really grips your shoe.

I've got my CBI sliders with kickout sitting in the garage. Probably going to be a weekend project. The GX is at the dealership still from the 5,000 mile service. Had to leave it overnight and it sounds like might have to leave it tonight as well. The dealership that I purchased it from that did my window tinting forgot to put some clips in the door making it rattle.

Getting closer to being done...and those Premium Plus tires/wheels are getting replaced next week. Really happy with the look, and the performance of the Slee...thanks again for your help! Crap, forgot, still have roof rack, ppf, ceramic coating, and need to sell running boards and tires/wheels...never going to be done with this thing :)!

Well, I've got to say that I cannot recommend CBI anymore. After waiting several weeks longer than the promised shipment for my sliders, I finally got a chance to install them. The hardware they sent me is completely wrong. The bolts are too small for the existing frame threaded holes. They are insisting that they sent the correct hardware and that I am doing something wrong even though there is only one way these can install.
The washers in the photo installed on the bolts are mine, they didn't even come with washers that fit the provided bolts. I'm pretty sure what they gave me is M8 hardware and M12 is required but I am yet to verify that. What makes this worse is that I still have a bumper in route from them. Just buy slee and save yourself the headache!

Damn that’s disappointing as I preferred the CBI ones to the other designs as they seemed to have a bigger step and looked like they are longer cover more of the area between the tires than alternatives
