From a Diaper to Training pants

I don’t use the small center portion anymore, at least during the summer towing months. The outer portion just pops off for me (I slightly mod’d the slots that the 4 clips slide into…easily pulls off…so far the wind, car wash haven’t stolen it yet).

I just leave mine off.

This was my arrangement and then I ripped off the surrounding black plastic off-road and now mine look ridiculous. Oh well..

Do you still have all the pieces? If so, the could be welded back together. I've done a bunch of plastic welding over the years and all I use is an old soldering iron. The assembly (both covers) isn't cheap at ~$200.

The problem remains though. You can't install a ball mount because the outer piece needs to come off to slide the pin in. It looks decent but you still have to pry the plastic pin things out to tow.

Once you install the hitch can this outer trim piece be re-installed? I bought one of those really expensive adjustable aluminum hitches after seeing a post on her with someone who had it. If I install that hitch and ball... and the trim piece goes BACK on...that is what I'd like to do... and just leave it.

Yes, the outer piece can be re-installed after putting in the ball mount pin.

Look at this... this might be nice too. A flip up step with a built in double ball.

I learned to plastic weld in my early teens and through the years, I used an old soldering iron as well. A few months back I purchased an actual plastic welding kit off Amazon to repair something I wanted to look better than my normal abstract work.

With that said, I'd just pay the $200 tax or get the $300.

Nope....but I know exactly where the outer piece is. I took the center piece off long ago (like DJ's Sled). The outer piece is on a trail in the middle of the desert outside of Lake Havasu.
