Lexus 5,000 mile "free" maintenance (1 Viewer)

Just went for my 5k this morning. Free oil and rotation, fluid top off and multiple inspections. Took 35 minutes. Went to the customer lounge and grabbed a snack and watched ESPN.

There is a definite wear difference between front and rear tires so rotation made sense in my case.
My tires all measured wear about the same, all around. You might consider asking about the uneven wear pattern. Did the spare get put on the ground and one of the others put on the spare mount? If they are going to rotate the tires, they need to rotate through all of them.

Agree they need to rotate through all - just depends on how lazy the service techs are. Most only do the minimal

That’s not true, the dealership has no idea what they’re talking about. I took my GX to dealership yesterday to have a Road forced balance, but the left the old weights on the wheels. I just left Discount tires, I had them remove all the weights on the wheels and do a Road Forced Balance and man let me tell you the vibration are almost gone.

The Road Forced Balance must be done on the Hunter balancer, the only balance machine that can do a Road Force Balance. Make sure they take all of the old weights off the wheels and also ask for the reading on each wheel.
What is a "Road Forced Balance"? Have never heard that term.

So in reading through the Road Forced Balance (RFB) comment, I googled that and found the video on RFB and theoretically it is possible to have out of round tires. But - there are several factors that would affect a tire being mounted "out of round" or even manufactured "out of round". I think it is extremely unlikely all four would be out of round. Tires today are of high quality, especially those that Lexus would put on a vehicle - imagine the old fairy tale about the "Princess and the pea". Well, in today's vehicles, manufacturers go to great lengths to get a "smooth ride". There are many reasons vehicles may have "some" vibrations including the pavement surface or debris on the road we don't see as we drive.
For the person above that took their vehicle for a Road Forced Balance, did you get a printout showing the eccentricity of each wheel, including the spare? Were the wheels loosened and then retorqued to Lexus specs? I believe the only way a wheel would be out of round is a manufacturing defect - as the wheel is mounted, the "lug bolt" pulls into the wheel using a chamfer on the lug bolt that tightens into a chamfer on the wheel. (Hope that makes sense.) So, if the bolt pattern is correct, the wheel torques into place properly. The RFB machine looks like it could produce data showing eccentricity and that would tell how "round" the tire/wheel combination is which would also inform if you will feel any "out of round" as you drive. And, tire pressure will affect the ride of the vehicle - which is why the tires should be pressurized with N2 and to the recommended pressure. I run my tires at 35 psig cold as measured on the Lexus vehicle Tire Pressure chart on the dash.
I wrote too much - sorry!

Yesterday, my wife took the GX550 in for the "free" 10k mile service. They didn't say anything about it not being serviced at 5k miles. She was in and out of there in about an hour.
