Transmission Clunk TSB L-SB-0042-25 (4 Viewers)

There is no transmission fix - the flash helps for 1-2 weeks and then the jolts come back. I got my OT from my dealer yesterday. The dealer confirm that the flash is the only thing available for the transmission fix. Do we need to start a class action lawsuit?

I didn't get a fluid flush. I received a firmware flash as that's what the most recent TSB states is the solution. Have you inquired with your service advisor about that?

Me spels no good - I meant to say "flash". The dealership performed the firmware flash during my 10K mile service. It worked for two weeks, but the jolts came back—they aren't as violent as before, but they are way more frequent. I took it back for a set of other unfixed issues and the dealership contacted Lexus to confirm that there is no other fix but the firmware flash.

Sorry to hear. I've done a few hundred miles but have not had the same experience as you...yet.

I suspect that the dealer’s refusal to perform a software flash when I first raised the issue at the 5,000-mile service may have caused permanent transmission damage. At the time, I was unable to demonstrate the jolts or rough shifting during an 8 minute test drive with the mechanic because the issue occurred randomly and could not be reliably reproduced.

Truck is in for 10k so Im going to have them flash it and lube the U-joints/zerks etc to see if that helps. I’ve only had the “jolt” once or twice. By biggest issue is the lag on acceleration. I do agree the transmission could be smoother overall
We have alot of complaints with our GX on the lag on acceleration from stop. This is in addition to the clunk when downshift near a stop. We had the TSB fix done - it seemed to fix the downshift (not 100%) but the lag is still there. I am going to continue to push them on this when going in for the 5000k mile maintenance.

The acceleration lag is so annoying. Thats always been a huge gripe of mine since the GX is my daily. Ive only felt a downshift “clunk” once or twice thankfully knocks on wood

I told my dealer about this service bulletin when I took my 25 OT in for the 12 month service and they said they put me on a call list to have it done when it's available. It figures they don't know anything about it.

Longo told me it’s normal, said some are worse. I decided to called Ontario Lexus to set up an appointment. Receptionist doesn’t have a clue, but when I met my service advisor. He said we didn’t need the test drive as he is aware of that issue and did the software update and so far so good.

Pm me if you want to know which advisor I had. I can find it for you.
