I'm going to replace the factory roof rack. im debating between Prinsu and sherpa. I'm going to get the full rack and the side panels, so i can carry an extra 8 gallons of fuel. Which one do you guys suggest? Sherpa cant carry as much weight on the side panels but prinsu makes you use silicone on install and has rusting issues on their bolts.

Every rack has the chance of rusting and every rack install SHOULD use silicone. I've had BajaRacks, Gobi Racks and Prinsu Racks and each had their own small issues. Not once have I regretted any of them.

You've clearly done research but don't get hypnotized by doing too much and remember, people complain on the Internet more than they praise.

Also FWIW I would wait and get the Long Range fuel tank versus carrying extra fuel. I carried two Jerry cans on my 4runner and only used them to fuel others. That's my 2 cents.

I went with the Sherpa rack with window panels, mainly because I didn't want the rubber gutter to be cut. Sherpa also uses denser aluminum at 1/4 inch if that matters to you. Here's my vehicle with the rack and light bar installed.

Does the shark fin antenna sit completely below the rack? THanks!

How did you wire up the lights and how do you activate them? Install some aux switch?

The light bar is wired to the Garmin Powerswitch, which is attached to the battery. The Garmin uses bluetooth to connect to your phone/carplay. I did not want to drill holes so I went this route. I have photos in the Overtrail Upgrades thread.

Don't have mine yet but the sunroof retracts into the roof when open so that is not affected. Potentially the placement of a crossbar could affect the pop up operation of the sunroof but most have the ability to adjust the crossbars so shouldn't be an issue.

The victory one says it doesn't affect tilt.

But I like the profile of this one... tbh.... seems like its all the same..... says the noob....

Vote sherpa. Their rubber blocks have never caused me any issues on previous vehicles. I agree - would not install a rack that included squirting silicone on my roof.

How's the wind noise with the Sherpa?
Quieter than the OEM rack but not silent. Probably not as quiet as the Westcott. I have a light bar and I thought the wind noise was not that bad. All bets were off as soon as the RTT came on. With the RTT it was as noisy as the OEM but that was expected. Sherpa has two things going for them, thicker aluminum and rubber feet so no silicone and no cutting are needed.

I'm liking the Victory. Looks great with Incognito and the sides are full length instead of two lengths connected. Didn't fret cutting the weatherstripping, you can always replace it if you want. Gives the rack extra pressure points for weight distribution. Silicone is easy and just the right way to do things if you're straying from stock.
