I saw someone on a Facebook group mention this, so I looked into it. Sounds like us that got the first couple allotments might be in for an engine recall.

Interesting. The only recall I have currently is regarding the backup camera potentially freezing. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any information on this. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunate, but I get a brand new engine if my car is affected. At least that’s the way I’ll look at it to spin it in a positive way.

That's all I have as well. We have definitely experienced every issue mentioned in this forum! Currently trying to get to the dealer for the software update on the transmission "skip" or whatever and for a new plastic trim piece that fell off from when they replaced the broken windshield! Maybe they will have the solution for the backup camera by then. HaHa We still love it, despite all its imperfections.

Mine doesn't have the Engine Recall notice, just the Backup Camera one. Just curious if the earlier production runs are the ones affected.

Build dates late May 2023 through Early April 2024 is what the Facebook poster listed. We got ours May 31, 2024. Only the backup camera recall is listed on that recall site for ours as of now.

Sorry to hear about this. I believed the remedy for the Tundra and LX was engine replacement.

Thank you for the heads up. I went to the website and the only recall i have there is the back up camera software issue. I bought my GX in late June of 24 so I expected to be there. I'll keep checking just in case.

I went to the Lexus recall page and only have the backup camera recall. Did not see engine. We took delivery in Sept 2024.

The recall notice will also be displayed as a message on your Lexus IOS app.

I just spoke to Lexus support in Plano Texas. I was told that if you do not show a recall now you’re good. They have it isolated to a certain time frame between mid May and mid June. That’s what I was told.

I actually don't mind a new engine though, reset my mileage to zero? Toyota will also normally extends the warranty after a recall?

My LX 600 is impacted by the recall, but my GX 550 that arrived in December 2024 isn't (so far). I'm a little bummed out, but I know Lexus is gonna make it right.

My concern is: How the hell do they propose to swap out that many engines? Are they giving those of us effected a loaner car to drive in the meantime?

My guess is that they’ll do it in stages. Meaning they’ll give you a time window to get it fixed based on your VIN. My buddy recently got his Tundra engine replaced and that’s how they did it with him. Toyota gave him a loaner.
