2027 engine updates.

So I got a call that my new 2026 OT should be in next month. Then I watched a YouTube video talking about redesigned 2027 engine fixing the oiling issues. Does anyone know if the 2026's they're kicking out have these fixes or should I postpone till 2027's come out?

I don’t believe the video in question is legitimate. An engine update like that is expensive. In addition, it would be an admission that their official reason for the engine recall (a tooling issue) was dishonest. I believe the only drivetrain update for ‘27 will be a hybrid option.

It kind of already is killing LX sales, even without the hybrid system, lol.

I agree - the GX has always, since day one, been the disadvantaged little brother. Lexus tuned the GX470 to produce less power than the LX470, despite having the exact same engine. The GX460 also was, predictably, slower than the LX570. "Conveniently", the GX550 accelerates 0-62 basically exactly as fast as the LX600, despite weighing 2-300 pounds less.

You see this type of thing in a lot of places. The Cayman - until very recently - always got the slower, shittier version of the 911 engines, the M2 weighs more than the M4 in some cases, despite being considerably smaller. Manufacturers like to protect their halo models.

The gx55h has been sold in china since 2024 btw.
same T24a-fts engine, just tweaked for a lexus character and less sound.
I have my 2026 ot and the engine has been fine. Built on 01/26.
When someone questions something about this engine, they should attatch the source information. Not even chat gpt says somethin else than the official docs.
For now its the same info that toyota said last year.

I think hybrid V6 would be good upgrade. As much as I like the V6 on our GX550, the turbo lag is bad by today's standards. A hybrid or mild hybrid will definitely help with the initially sluggishness especially when accelerating from stop. Probably also improve gas mileage but I don't think most GX owners care about mpg. Despite all of its flaws, there is still demand for GX550. Used prices for 1-2 year old models especially the 3 row premium and premium plus version seems to be really high, like no depreciation at all.
