Full Suspension Lifts for the GX 550 (2 Viewers)

I received an email back from Shocks Surplus in LA and they said Bilstein doesn't have anything for the GX550 yet. Bummer, their technology is interesting.

I also received an email back from Bilstein and it was the same stock info.

At this time, we do not offer any direct-fit aftermarket products for your specific application. We also do not recommend using products that are not intended or validated for your vehicle, as this can impact both performance and safety.

While we do not have a future estimated release date, new applications are added regularly. We encourage you to periodically check our online catalog for updates:

I installed the MT64 shocks. I only wanted 1.5-2" of ride height increase to make the front level with the back. The front shocks were set to the highest perch (20) from ARB.
ARB suggested moving down 3-4 spaces to get that height. I went down 4 (0) which provided no lift.

So I moved the driver side up 2 (10) and the passenger side up 3 (15) to correct the lean my GX had. This got me to where I wanted to be.

With the proper Toyo AT3 275\70r18 tires there is 12" of ground clearance measuring from the bottom of the front skid plate.
These shocks provided 2" additional droop travel and the ride is pretty good!

I also installed some Perry Parts bump stops.

Did you change out your UCA’s? It looks good. Never saw Earth without a black top
Kept the OEM upper arms. On full droop the upper arms just kiss the springs.
Since I only raised it up a little, I'm sure it will align fine.

I'm hoping to get the TRD pro\trail hunter upper arms from the 4runner.

I hated that black roof, so I had the whole vehicle wrapped in the color sand storm.

I like what you did. It looks great. I got the Built Rite UCA’s The worked with The Truck Shop here in SanDiego. Gives more articulation and a nice ride on road

Which rear springs did you go with? TIA.

I'm still sitting here on the fence thinking about new suspension. There seem to be a lot of great options. I'm kind of waiting for Icon to say they are fully ready to commit to Overtrail fitment, and I really wish the Bilstein 8112 system had an application for our Overtrails. The Bilsteins sound like the most technologically advanced. Plus the 100k rebuild schedule on the Bilsteins is a major bonus. I already know, and trust, ARB/OME from multiple shocks and springs on past trucks. And I've heard so many great things about the King 2.5s. The best scenario would be the opportunity to drive GX550s equipped with each system. Let's all get together for lunch one day....my treat.

Unfortunately there are several hundred miles between everyone. You're Mr. King and you're in Socal, Six Overland is Mr. Icon and he's in Norcal (or at least I think so), and Turbo8 is Mr. OME and he's in Vegas. There are a few other Kings and Icons and I think 1 or more is in Colorado but not sure where else. It would be cool if I could go Bilstein and then we calculate a mid-point between us all and meet for some off roading. We'd end up in the California desert somewhere.
