GX550 Luxury + at the dealer for a new transmission (5k miles)

I have a 24 gx550 OT+. I started experiencing the transmission jerk at 3000miles. Took it in and the dealer did a hard reset. The issue went away for 400miles then came back. Took it back in again, they did another reset and told me to drive it like I stole it. I guess i was babying it. 350miles later, the jerk came back. So I took it back and made it very clear to stop resetting it. I don’t have the time to bring it back every 300miles. They kept the car for 2weeks and sent out a tas case to Lexus USA. When I got it back, they told me there’s no fix at the moment and told me to go home and learn to live with the issue. I was like…..what??!!! I was confused AF.

A week later I brought it to another Lexus dealership to see if there’s any solution and second opinion. The service rept stated, “if it’s transmission issue, we will replace. Don’t worry.” I was relieved. 4 days later, I came back and they told me to wait because there’s no fix. I got so mad, I called up Lexus USA and I told them my situation. A week later, they paired me up with a case manager. She straight out told me, there isn’t any fix and is NORMAL. My issue is normal.

the next day, I called up my attorney and started a lemon law case. 2 months later we WON.

Lexus is trash! How the heck is it normal?
Have your case number, name, filing details etc? May be helpful for others plus interesting to read.

The jerk is back. I’m so tired of this .

Stumbled across this thread, and my GX OT+ does this as well. I have about 5k miles. Noticed it around 3-4k. I would describe it as shuddering, jerkiness, like a stutter at slow speeds through the transmission. It happens right before coming to a stop or coasting close to it. I'd estimate it occurs around 60% of the time in those slower conditions.

The vehicle did not do this for the first few thousand miles. I would have noticed immediately. It is annoying, very noticeable, and borderline unbearable. Unfortunately, this is becoming a widely reported issue.

Going to bring it in before the 10k service. Will report back.

what year is your GX?

Could you provide additional details on the issue you were experiencing? When I come to slow stop, it feel a double bump. Kind of like a hard downshift just before I come to a complete stop. It happens about 25% of the time, I cant figure out what conditions trigger it and why sometimes it comes to smooth stop with no thump.
I have the same exact problem. I am also thinking it might be the transmission since it only happens when you drive above certain speed and come to a complete stop.

Did they take the car back full refund? What were you awarded?

Dang I hate reading this. If Lexus keeps doing this type BS, they are going to get a bad rep for poor quality much more widely known than just this forum, which is one of the main reasons so many people buy Toyota/lexus. They told me same thing. And they told me same thing about the poor ride quality. “It is just how these trucks are.” For the later, they claimed it was the shocks. Well, pretty sure it’s NOT the shocks/springs because I replaced mine. So disappointing because this is one the most badass rigs they’ve ever come out with, outside of its issues. I literally freak out every time I see mine when I walk outside because it looks so awesome and I know I’ll be getting that back massage within minutes LOL. The thing that really sucks is that even if you got them to lemon law it, you’d have to be nervous to buy another one because of the high possibility of the same issues. The transmission clunk on downshift seems to be becoming very ubiquitous very quickly. There’s a whole other thread about it now.

03/30/2025 - I confirmed with my dealership that Lexus has released a new transmission program to address the downshift issue for 2024 models. If you own a 2024 model, you may want to check with your dealership about this update.

For the 2025 model, Lexus has not released a new program yet. According to the dealership, the codes for the 2024 and 2025 models are different.

Interesting. My 2024 Overtrail hasn't had any of the jerky shifting into 1st since they reset the transmission about 3,000 miles ago.

Okay, With no fix for the 25, I am wondering if the play is to just skip the 25 and go directly to the 26, IF lexus fixes the issue. From what I understand the 2026 is slated for release late this year/early next year. I was about to buy a 25, but, by the time it gets here ( and with no trans fix in site apparently ) I could be looking at 26. Even still, I'd have to have Lexus come clean on this issue and give me the course of action to fix it. Im not an 80k beta tester

I experienced an unusual jerk in my luxury+, which made me think it might be a transmission issue. The dealer confirmed after a week, and a new transmission is scheduled to arrive in mid-November (on back order 👀).

y brand new GG 550 Luxury + sucks. Intermittent when I am stopped an barely start moving there is a huge clunk. First time I thought we were hit in rear by another car and it was so loud passengers who had exited the car were startled. Then it seemed like a msnual clutch was engaged. Had to turn off car to get it going again. Also, does anyone know how to get to seat massage while driving without going through 3 layers of software … dangerous distracted driving. They should call it “garage massage “ as that’s the only time you can safely use. Should have kept my old GX 460.

Please keep thread going as we need more info. I have summarized my issues and research below on my current issues with 2025 GX 550 Luxury + (less than 200 miles)

Issue 1: 5/10/25 less than 200 miles (approx 7:30 pm) - 2025 GX 550 - After car was stopped and dropping off passengers and barely started moving to pull out from curb there was a huge clunk and an alarming jolt. My friend and I thought we were hit in rear by another car and it was so loud passengers who had exited the car were startled. Then it seemed like a manual clutch was engaged not allowing to go forward. Had to turn off car to get it going again. Got diagnostic “see dealer” and an orange engine alert icon. (Dealership was able to pull the diagnostic but advised could not replicate)

Issue 2: Also, no way to turn on seat massage while driving without going through 3 layers of software … causing dangerous distracted driving. Should call it “garage massage“ as that’s the only time you can safely use. (Dealership response was nothing can do and if want a massage have to just turn on when not driving)

Issue 3: Seat heaters seem to stop or not/barely working . (5/12/25 - Service tech dismissed advising seat heater consistent with another new GX on lot.)

Research 5/13/25: Chk TSBs

Research 5/13/25: Seat temperature s/b 86-113 F (via infrared imaging thermometer); imaging will also show cold spots on pad; also should run a current ohm test plug to plug and should read 3-5 ohms resistance (but not open circuit like .1 or something (open circuit).

Saying "Lexus is trash" is a bit harsh. All companies that sell products experience lemons and very happy you won the case. Sucks you had to hire a lawyer. I am in the hospitality industry, it's all about how you handle issues and recovery. Lexus handled your issue badly for sure.

As for "Lexus is trash" - I'd have to disagree with ya.

DaveK - I received a response from you. If you were responding to my post, Where did I say Lexus was trash? I just posted facts. Secondly, I didn’t hire a lawyer, I am a lawyer. Thirdly, I have not threatened any legal action so I don’t know what you are referring to in regards to handling my Lexus problems. Finally, I have purchased at least 4 Lexus vehicles in the past decade to the tune of say a quarter mill. So pretty sure I have standing to complain and seek information from similarly situated customers about common Lexus issues. I recommend you concentrate on helping other customers with facts as opposed to criticizing their approach. .

Oithach - I am having same problem and documenting my journey. I am a business attorney not a lemon law attorney. Im curious what state you brought the lemon law complaint? Through arbitration or court case? What did you win? Full refund? Refund less usage? Most lemon laws allow attorney fees so did Lexus pay your attorney fees ? Could you share his contact info as I may want to hire him?

Wow, now I am not sure what I was reading as the post I was responding to clearly stated they hired a lawyer, WON the case and then said Lexus is trash.

Apologies.
