Absolutely great deal, they are on sale now (think I paid $20).

Important note when installing. Make sure you first use common sense and align them first on how they should sit.
First cleaned and dried the channel. I believe they were incorrectly labeled (RH vs LH).
Tucked the lower part behind the wiper cowl and into the channel and aligned the top to curve along the top of the windshield frame.
Then slightly pulled off the tape from the top corner while applying pressure on the trim so that it remains perfectly inline with the windshield side trim..
Repeat on the other side.
Good luck!

(I believe someone in the Amazon ratings posted a photo where they were happy but I noticed that it was incorrectly installed lol)

Thanks! Should the pointy/thinner edge be sitting towards the top or bottom of the windshield?

Roman,
Have you found, or looked into a similar strip for going along the top edge of the windshield?
It is a smaller gap..but I’d like to try it.
It seems a small “T” shaped piece with thin, very flush wings might work, even if I had to shorten the leg portion that actually inserts into the small gap.
Thanks for any help, opinions.

I have not, I honestly didn't think about it as it wasn't something that was advertised... The top isn't that much of a big deal as gravity comes down and whatever gets in there would come down. Whereas the sides would get filled up with random sh*t (including snow) from the wipers. If you find something, pls share.

Damn….i think i installed it upside down 🙃
Show your installation. The bottom tucks under the wiper cowl so it doesn't matter whats there. However, the top is where you want the trim to flow into the top part of the windshield. you might be able to remove and use another strip of double sided tape.

You bet, thanks!

It's a really nice atmosphere inside the truck with all doors closed, and also very nice with just the rear hatch glass popped open. That's going to prove to be a nice feature while sleeping in the truck. Need to create a way to open & close that glass hatch from the inside.
Hey Bluegill. First, thank you for this great build thread! I've taken your advice on several of the upgrades you have done, with great success. Second, I am wondering if you have made any progress on how to open the glass hatch from the inside. This is something that I am going to start looking into when I am back from vacation, but wanted to check with you to see if you've made any progress yet.

I have not even looked into it yet. I've slept in the back with the window up for ventilation and with the whole rear hatch door up. I use simple large binder clips (like from Staples or Office Depot) to clip flags or tarps or blankets to the outer edge of the tailgate to provide shade and that cave feeling. I think it would be hard to create inside pull buttons or latches to open the rear hatch door and/or the rear window. Although I did face the same issue with my old Land Rover LR4 and an aftermarket company in Italy (oddly named Land Rover Passion) offered an internal latch that you cut into the inside of the door and attached a cable to the mechanism. It looked completely stock and worked great. So it is possible....

Yup, that functionality is what I am looking for. The LR solution looks mechanical, and the GX seems to be electronic (relay pops when the button is pressed). So, it might be as simple as extending another button off of the external button. I am also looking for a way to trigger the entire hatch, but I will have to check how that works when the car is off, not sure I will have any success there. Hopefully I will get a chance to dig into this shortly after returning home. If I do, I will update here.

Somehow I missed this post about this front glass sealing tape. I just ordered it....for $15 I figured I'd give it a try. I checked out my truck and I never realized that there was such a big gap there under the black trim at the edge of the windshield.

Did those inserts for the windshield reduce the noise at all?

They reduce noise and crap or snow from accumulating in those windshield channels. It is a super cheap trick and even if you don't like it for some reason, what's $12...

I haven't installed them yet - I got a big crack in my new windshield and I'm waiting to hear back from Bell Lexus and their glass guy on whether or not they have another GX windshield for me. I waited an actual YEAR for this new windshield to come in and it was a vestal virgin for about 10 days before it was nailed by hail while I was on the highway.

I was tagged by a rock in my first week - just a chip - but a complete pain in the ass given the lead time for a new one. Safelite glass fixed it and it's not too bad, but will put in a new one when when/if they are available. My dealer said they had no clue when one would be available

They do make the vehicle quieter -

Used the Bambed on a quick overnight camp trip this week. Worked fine. I set it up in the cargo area before the trip and it is very nice to have that extra storage underneath....BUT, one major flaw is that I could only open the cooler a few inches before the cooler lid hit the overhead shelf with the cooler up on the platform. There's a downside to everything! Very inconvenient for loading the cooler, getting stuff out, etc. As far as sleeping, comfort, etc. it was perfect. I painted the edges black and put carpet tiles on top and it worked out well. Unfortunately one of the 2 platform pieces has warped and now it doesn't sit flat, it kind of wobbles back & forth from side to side.

Was very convenient for making coffee in the morning.

Interesting - my inside shelf (we have the same brand) is just about 15.4 deep. Cut the plastic to your measures and it was too wide. Guess the MFR winged a few of these...

I cut the plastic sheet down to 40-1/2" X 15-3/4".

The inside edges of the metal overhead shelf are rolled so there is some variability to the measurement. I'm sure my "straight" cut also probably varies a good half-inch as I just winged it with my circular saw and didn't bother with a guide.

Since those posts I have painted my Bambed base pieces with several coats of black paint and Minwax Polycrylic Crystal Clear Topcoat, re-painted and topcoated the edges of the Bambed platform pieces, and topcoated the underside of the platform pieces (didn't bother to paint the undersides black). So now the Bambed wood is more protected than the exterior of my house. I also completely disassembled that neon green magnetic light and painted the green housing black because the green was so out of place.

For the ceiling shelf, FWIW: I stopped in at our local flooring and carpet shop. Asked if they had any super thin, cheap carpet remnants I could purchase..dude comes back 15 mins later with a small section from the shop, and said no charge.

Measured up, marked the white-ish back side, used some pretty normal scissors, tried it, and a couple trims later had it in. Silent, just enough friction, nothing hanging down now and the underside provides some decent reflectivity to the cargo area. I have extra left for another install in the future if I ever spill something up there. YMMV. 😉
