Thoughts on Extended Warranty and Lexus Luxury Care Plans?

Picked up my new ride yesterday, 10yr/125K (non Lexus (Penske)) was $4185, 5yr 75k Service (Lexus) was $4145 (other nearest Dealer wanted $5600,) and 7yr unlimited OEM windshield replacement was $2200. I'm not sure I'll keep the non Lexus extended warranty and pay a little extra and go with suggested out of state sellers I've found on here.

Jerry Johnson. Midwest Superstore. Lexus warranty at a discount. Tell dealer to take a hike. Get a refund from your dealer.

I've left him two VM's, one text, and two emails....Can't get ahold of the guy!!!!
I don't think Jerry can sell the extended warranty since you're in California. I last heard that you would need to buy an extended warranty from a CA dealer.

The other Dealer mentioned on here that as I long as I have a different address I can use that one, and luckily I have other addresses I could use.

I have heard a lot of horror stories with third party warranties. The manufacturer ones seem decent. GM paid out the nose for the two cars I’ve had from them.

My dealer did better than the price on the 10/100k from Midwest Toyota if I got the maintenance plan too. I am guessing they have incentives from Lexus for both. I figured the maintenance plan would cost about $200 more in 2025 dollars than the total services in 2025 dollars. But inflation is crazy and they beat Midwest Toyota by more than that $200 so it was a net win for me. Plus no excuse not to dealer service now, which keeps things clean for the warranty for the first six years at least.
GM has prepaid every extended warranty I will ever have for the rest of my life with the savings from theirs. I will have zero regrets if I do not need it.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. When you say maintenance plan, do you mean prepaid maintenance?

Big premium for extra 25K miles. Around $1,300 more than 100K warranty. Big profit for dealer but not much you can do if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years. BTW, if warranty is transferred to next owner, they can then cancel and get pro-rated refund of cost of warranty that first owner paid for.

The only way to buy a service contract is from the OEM, as aftermarket & dealer sponsored are horrible when you go to use them.
Worked for us. Our 2014 GX460, like all 4.6L Toyota V8’s, needed the water pump, cam seals & idlers replaced at 110K miles. Repair was $2800 in 2021, & thankfully covered in full with the $2200 Lexus service contract we had got on her.
No too much profit on this LX contract, as it was $100 over dealer cost ($4700 from Lexus). The Lexus Premium contracts are much more expensive on a LX Luxury+ than on GX Luxury+

So, the Lexus warranty that ends at 100K miles doesn't really cover enough miles? 125K mile warranty for 2022 GX 460 is $4,600 vs. $3,300 for 100K mile warranty.

I’m not a fan of extended warranties, particularly with a Toyota/Lexus. The pre-paid maintenance is a good deal though.

Does anyone have a copy of the full terms for the Lexus Platinum plan? Our dealership pitched us their in-house plan (Hendricks) and made some points about things they cover that Lexus doesn't. However, all I can find online are some brochures for Platinum Extended Care, no actual detailed terms and coverage (what is and isn't covered).

I just want to give them both a look before deciding.

If you send him an email and tell him what vehicle you have and what the VIN is and how many years and miles you want, he should get back to you.

I am debating whether or not to get the extended warranty for my 2022 GX. I have less than a month to decide. 10/100K is $3,300. I don't drive much so the warranty would cover my vehicle for six more years if I keep it. Typically, whatever I decide is wrong and as it stands now I can afford to pay for whatever repairs are needed in the future. Crap shoot.

My dealer matched the online deals (or very close to it) so it was an easy decision to take it past 100K miles. They originally would not but I insisted that I can get a better deal and showed them this post! Thanks

Love it. I tried to do the same, and my dealer played hardball. Tried to explain that I am not buying an actual Lexus warranty.
